Thud upon gear change when kickdown is used in a 2009 R230 SL350.
AMG33D replied to Chrishazle's topic in General Discussions
The engine mounts and gearbox mounts are significantly worn and in need of repair. -
However, locating unusual sounds, particularly those sent via the internet, may be exasperating. Cracked exhaust manifolds, caused by a broken stud or other issues, may lead to a ticking noise that becomes more pronounced as the engine heats up. Engine revolutions per minute (RPM) I had identical symptoms on my last s123 vehicle equipped with the m102 engine. The reason of the issue was a fractured manifold bolt in my situation. However, without using a stethoscope or doing a thorough examination, the noise was comparable to a severe rattling originating from the upper part of the engine. The prevalence of broken exhaust manifolds on the M111 engine is uncertain, although they are certainly not uncommon.

I am experiencing a similar issue, but specifically with an M103 engine following the installation of new pumps.Initially, the machine starts easily with the push of a button. However, with time, it becomes progressively more difficult to start each day. I have a new fuel filter and accumulator prepared for installation. If the engine fails to start initially, I suggest turning off the ignition and inspecting the gasoline distributor for any leakage via the plunger seal.Insufficient gasoline is always the reason why the automobile cannot be started for the first time after being parked.

Worth looking at the flexible discs. -
Instead of inspecting the tyre pressures, he was really engaging in the act of stealing the wheels.

The water leak in the boot of the W211 has been resolved.
AMG33D replied to Mistral's topic in Technical Area
When using silicone sealant, it is important to avoid using acid-based ones since they might lead to metal corrosion when exposed to water. In my experience, doing smoke testing within a boot is the most effective method for pinpointing the precise location of leaks. I constructed my own smoker using an inexpensive pond smoker, a pair of computer fans, and a plastic tub filled with water. The entire cost of my setup was around ten pounds. However, it is also possible to rent a smoker if desired. It has always been successful in detecting leaks in boots. -
I own a 2010 Mercedes E class with a 3.0 V6 engine. The car's MOT has expired since January, and at the end of February, I brought it in for a MOT inspection. Unfortunately, it did not pass due to issues with the suspension and leaky injectors. I have had a distressing and frightening dream about it. Initially, I accidentally detached the leak off pipe from the injectors, which necessitated the acquisition of two new injectors due to the breakage of the connecting component. Additionally, when tightening the bolts, two out of the six injector clamp bolts fractured within the engine. This occurred due to my neighbour lending me his torque wrench and assuring me that he had set it to 8 Newton metres (nm), but in reality, it was set over 56 nm, as confirmed by a mechanic when I presented them with the torque tool. My mechanic friend partly drilled the broken bolts, but did not completely remove them. He installed a larger thread and replaced the bolts with shorter and thicker ones. I tightened them with a torque wrench, but one of the two bolts took many more spins to get fully tight. Currently, when I turn the key, the car's engine is rotating but not starting, and it is making a loud chuffing noise. According to my friend, this might be due to a malfunctioning fuel injector. However, it is difficult to determine which specific injector is causing the issue until the engine is really running. Currently, the vehicle is not starting, and I suspect that there may be an airlock issue. Additionally, there is a connection that I have been unable to locate its intended destination. I am considering if this connector might be the cause of the car's failure to start. I kindly want assistance.

126 SEC - Inquiry about rust removal and repainting
AMG33D replied to Motoman's topic in General Discussions
From my understanding, the primary issue is in the parcel shelf located at the bottom of the back screen. Prior to proceeding with any painting, I strongly advise thoroughly inspecting the area both within and externally. It is crucial to be vigilant for any concealed decay, since the repair required might be rather extensive. I have been informed that finding a perfect match for silver paint on older automobiles is quite difficult (specifically, for my silver SL). -
Indeed, I concur.

I own a pre-facelift E350 CDi saloon equipped with the more recent 265bhp engine. It is an exceptional fruit. The vehicle offers a sleek, polished, and noiseless experience, with enough power available when desired. The drive is also delightful. Highly recommended.

While I do not dispute their results, I find it difficult to think that newly manufactured discs from a respectable company would induce vibrations in any vehicle, unless there are other suspension problems at play. Based on my extensive experience of replacing discs on different vehicles with various brands, I have observed that shuddering only occurs with new discs if the shudder was already present before the disc replacement. To clarify, based on my own experience, installing new brake discs does not consistently resolve the issue of vibration when braking, but it never triggers it.
