  1. Someone who makes remaps or something similar would have to be independent as 7% is within commercial and legal tolerance. Who wants to know? Certainly not Kia or the key dealers. Why, I must enquire? For example, if the limit is 70 and you want to set your cruise control speed to 75, set it at 53 and let it misread to 50.
  2. Nothing but a loud "pop/click" could be audible when I played the audio back at maximum volume on my PC. Just wanted to clarify that I would love to hear the sound you describe. If it were knocking from low-grade petrol, I wouldn't hear it like you're describing it; it would be more regular and repetitive. Your description seems to indicate that the turbo charger might be ramping up at that time. Maybe the turbo's heat shield is flexing.
  3. I hear more of a "pop/click" than a metallic chirping sound, and while I find that intriguing, I have no clue what that means. How did you manage to get the audio recording given the circumstances in which the noise is said to occur? I thought you were leaning out the window of the car!
  4. Worse still, the second HPFP is also defective.
  5. You can only insert the dowel pin into one of the flywheel's holes. You should be good to go if you lock the cams and insert the flywheel pin so that the small handle almost touches the bellhousing. To secure the 18mm socket wrench in place, give it a little wiggle, but be careful not to apply any force. You can tell when the flywheel pin is in a recess rather than a hole because the small handle on the pin is far from touching the surface of the bellhousing. When the flywheel pin is placed, there is one way to turn the crank such that all of the pistons are even. While trying to locate top dead again, I hope you didn't bing any valves.
  6. Each camshaft requires two genuine BMW parts, and you can only get them from an authorised BMW dealer. One day after receiving them, immerse them in motor oil. Changing them is a breeze; simply remove the old ones using a pick, apply oil to the cam ends, then carefully push the rectangs into place using a plastic pry.
  7. I'm grateful for the update, kk. Your double-checking and confirmation that the timing is perfect is greatly appreciated (y) Your utilisation of high-quality parts is commendable. Since you neglected to replace the vanos sprockets and the rectang rings (gaskets) at the cam ends, I'm wondering if that's the source of your issue. The replacement chain's lifespan will be diminished due to the old sprockets wearing it down rapidly. Without checking the real-time data, I'd venture to say that the sprockets are Maxwell-worn and the rectangs are past their sell-by dates. Examine the desired and actual cam locations to determine the extent of the disparity if you are unable to obtain a more advanced scan tool. You may use that information to identify the sprockets and rectangs.
  8. Was the TC a complete FAI or OEM BMW kit that came with all the necessary guides and a new tensioner? The solenoids must be of the BMW or Pierburg variety. Just wanted to give you a heads up that most of the material you see on the internet is crap and won't work, so there's no need to worry about whether they were or weren't. It seems that out-of-timing problems are prevalent in these codes. To be quite honest, I think 180 psi is a little low for a turbo; it should be closer to 200 psi.
  9. real-time information — rail pressure and cam/crank lining up....
  10. This year marks the 24th anniversary of my beloved old X5, and it is still going strong.
  11. Bimmercode does not facilitate any tuning as you desire. The remark on the "visit tuner shop" suggests that a remap may be desired for enhanced performance.
  12. I receive a message from the application.
  13. The component I received functioned properly. Regrettably, I required the part today, as I am travelling to Leeds tomorrow. I now believe that all manufacturers who provided quotes for inexpensive parts up to VIN fg*** and costly parts beyond that VIN are deceptive, as the same item is compatible with all, provided the correct model is selected. Thank you for your assistance.
  14. Thank you. Retrieving an Intermotor replacement from Motor Parts Direct in Doncaster. I will inform you if it is successful!
