  1. Is there anybody there who is capable of independently doing the task?
  2. Thank you for the guidance provided by everyone. I will provide updates on the progress, since I am planning to do the task throughout the next weekend.
  3. I am contemplating whether it would be prudent for me to do the task alone, although with some assistance, or whether such an endeavor would be ill-advised. I have engaged in casual experimentation with automobiles, but I lack substantial prior knowledge in the installation of automotive components. Does anybody have knowledge on the necessary equipment for this task? Is it possible to use an engine hoist or employ a jack to elevate the vehicle and thereafter drop the engine from beneath?
  4. Yes, I want to proceed with the task; but, I would appreciate obtaining a preliminary understanding prior to commencing.
  5. Greetings, everyone, The timing chain of my 318d has had a failure after 112,000 miles. Given the circumstances, it is more logical to replace the engine as a whole rather than only addressing the issue with the timing chain. Do you have any estimations on the amount of labor required for this task? Thank you for your contribution.
  6. Thank you everybody for your valuable assistance, which is much appreciated. The garage has provided a quotation of £500 for the replacement of a malfunctioning door actuator. Consequently, I am hoping that I may do the repair independently.
  7. The focus of this discussion is to the pop rivets that will need to be drilled out in order to remove the aluminum cover, hence granting access to repair the defective door actuator.
  8. Could someone provide me with the appropriate dimensions of rivets required for the replacement of the inner panel on the door of my 220 CDI W204?
  9. Hello, I believe that this handbook has the potential to assist me in determining if I possess the capability to independently repair the rear brake disc of my vehicle. Conflicting information has been received from many sources. If the ease of the matter is really as apparent as it seems, it would be quite favorable.
  10. I am currently enrolled in the LV - Britannia Rescue program, which provides coverage for all of my vehicles as a policy member. This coverage extends to both myself and my spouse, as well as any vehicle we happen to be occupying at the time of a breakdown. It is important to note that this coverage is focused on individuals rather than specific vehicles. Additionally, the LV policy allows for the inclusion of one named vehicle, which has been designated for coverage of my daughter's car exclusively. The sole kind of assistance provided is retrieval, with no provision for on-site repairs save for the replacement of flat tires. For an annual cost of slightly under £100, all of these benefits may be had. The inclusion of double coverage for all classic items is provided as a complimentary addition to the insurance policy. Therefore, any individual who has insurance coverage is eligible to operate those vehicles and get the associated protection.
  11. That is commendable; I have chosen to align myself with the AA. I hope that I will not use their services, but it is reassuring to know that they provide a commendable service in the event that I do.
  12. Thank you everybody for your input. I have decided to experiment with implementing an AA policy. As some individuals have expressed, there is a degree of concern over the possibility that the responsible party may want to bypass any attempts at rectification and instead go directly to the process of recovery. However, it is hoped that such a scenario would not come to fruition.
  13. I use a comprehensive insurance package, priced at around £45, which covers both at-home services and my 66 Fastback vehicle. Additionally, I rely on the same insurance provider for my other automotive insurance needs.Last year, I availed the 'at home' service, but the company that was dispatched to assist me made no effort to initiate the process. They provided an erroneous explanation regarding the need for a new battery, which I knew to be incorrect. In contrast, reputable organizations such as AA have historically made an effort to rectify the situation. However, during my conversation with the representative from the aforementioned company, it became evident that his mechanical expertise was significantly inferior to even my own.The primary focus of their enterprise seems to be in the field of recovery services, suggesting the potential for higher pricing in this area. The robot was successfully retrieved in a methodical manner, indicating proficiency in the recovery process.
  14. Hello everyone, does anybody have any recommendations for breakdown protection specifically designed for antique cars? Regarding a 1966 coupe. I need prompt resolution of the matter at hand. Thank you for your response.
  15. What specific content did you substitute? It seems that your approach is characterized by a trial-and-error method, where you attempt several strategies with the hope of achieving success.
  16. The fuel gauge is exhibiting irregular behavior, prompting an intervention including adjustments to the instrument cluster. Was everything else functioning properly? Was there any consideration given to examining the fuel level sensors located inside the tank? We are now dealing with a client whose Remote Reservation System (RRS) unexpectedly displays as empty, despite the fact that it is not, and we had not previously considered the possibility of the instrument cluster being the cause of this issue. We are now anticipating his action of depleting the tank's fuel level to a lower threshold, which will enable us to remove the tank and inspect the senders.
  17. I would want to highlight that there are other justifications for purchasing genIII's beyond the supplementary lift they provide. I made my purchase based on the consideration of riding quality.
  18. The ignition is active on circuit 15. Most often, a black wire.
  19. I should mention that my home base is Morecambe.
  20. I appreciate the responses, but can anybody provide advice on what I should do now? I brought it to Mercedes as a last option after taking it to several other repair shops.
  21. Blackpool is the closest and largest showroom to me, so you'd think they'd have star.
  22. Hello, all of the aforementioned were tested after a diagnostic was performed. When I dropped off the vehicle, it went into a mode that wouldn't let me start it. The service center placed it on diagnostics and sent it to their tech team in Spain, so they spent much of their time waiting for suggestions. They were at a loss since no error messages were being shown. They claimed that they just replaced the ignition, but the problem persisted thereafter; yet, they refused to refund my payment of £900. Someone working on it has apparently been there for 15 years. The mechanics stated they can't repair the automobile without dismantling it, a time-consuming and expensive process. It's kind of funny that they can't even repair their own automobiles. I was just put off.
  23. I've been the proud owner of a 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class for two years and 96,000 miles. Most of the gauges began flashing, the windows wouldn't close, and the wipers stopped functioning; turning the vehicle off in this state rendered it inoperable. Then I drove it to Mercedes-Benz of Blackpool. After spending a total of £900 on having a new ignition switch installed, as well as having the fuses replaced, EMC, and steering block replaced, nothing would turn over. The following items were removed, save the key to the car's ignition. They ended up changing a relay and warning customers not to return if the patch failed. I don't know what to do now if this doesn't work, but if people repair their own automobiles, they should be held responsible. If this does not work, any insight would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot
  24. A Rover 3500 has been sitting in the front yard, rusting away, for quite some time now. I went to the guy's house to ask if I could buy his engine to put in my MGB, but he declined. It seems like it will remain stationary indefinitely. Parting Out: Rick's 1985 TVR 280i, 1978 MGB, and 1978 Spitfire
