Issues with the W124 neutral safety switch
dave783 replied to dave783's topic in General Discussions
Indeed, the 4/5 change is functioning as intended, and the gearbox is operating well. The E\S switch is also functional. Currently, there is an occasional issue where a switch fails to activate the reverse lights when I shift into reverse. I first thought it was the neutral safety switch; however, it seems to be something else. I will contact my technician to ascertain the component more precisely. He seemed uncertain as well. -
Issues with the W124 neutral safety switch

The garage did not respond to my inquiry yesterday on the selection module switch, and I am uncertain about the specific item in question. My mechanical skills have deteriorated compared to their previous state. Experts on vintage automobiles are becoming scarce. The former proprietor of the establishment could detect these issues instantaneously. However, when seeing my wife reverse the vehicle in Lidl's parking lot, I saw that both the reversing lights and the back wiper were functioning. I now possess the most lamentable of flaws - an intermittent one. Should I persist with my ongoing enquiries? Affirmative! Certainly. What grounds do you have for doubting me? The MOT is scheduled for March, allowing me plenty time. I will provide an update when I obtain further information. -
Issues with the W124 neutral safety switch

I had always aspired to drive a 928. I have just retrieved the vehicle from the repair shop, where it was indicated that the selection module switch, located inside the shifter mechanism behind the polished hardwood centre console, is likely the issue. I possess no knowledge on this subject. Has anybody encountered this component before? I am contemplating if the use of contact cleaner into the shifter gate might effectively cleanse the switch. They will investigate the matter and respond to me. I will keep you informed. -
Issues with the W124 neutral safety switch

Thank you, everyone. Indeed, I observed many on eBay; nonetheless, I am apprehensive about installing a component that is already deteriorated. Will the Porsche component be identical to the Mercedes-Benz part? It seems that some components are shared. -
Greetings to everyone 1996, 124 E280 estate, 5-speed gearbox, 333,000 kilometres. Recently, I saw that the rear windscreen wiper did not activate when reversing, despite the front wiper functioning. Inspected the reverse lights and saw that they were nonfunctional as well. The neutral safety switch, located on the left side of the gearbox where the shifter connects to the transmission, has been diagnosed. The neutral safety switch, identified by component number A 00 054 549 06 from Nemigaparts.com, is no longer manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. The vehicle is scheduled for diagnostics at the shop tomorrow, however their accuracy is not guaranteed. Is this component probable modifiable in situ, or is it a part that often fails and requires replacement? Are there any other potential causes for these symptoms? An online video disassembly of the component reveals that it has a rather basic switch. Any guidance would be welcomed. Thank you.

He employs a method to refine and establish the rings, operating at a speed of 2500 revolutions per minute, and applying oil intermittently. Upon examining the MOT emission results subsequent to Mike's engine refreshment, it is evident that they are equivalent to those of a brand new engine. Regarding the cylinder head, it is advisable to have it undergo a pressure test when it is hot, since this is the optimal condition for detecting any potential fractures.
-
If you have progressed to that point, it is advisable to do the following tasks: install the rings, smooth the inner surface of the cylinders, and remove carbon deposits from the cylinder head and pistons. What is the appearance of WRT bearings? If there is any uncertainty, it is advisable to consider making changes. The only concern with the head is if it has undergone overheating, resulting in warping or cracking.

Optimal positioning of the turbo-catalyst gasket
dave783 replied to dave783's topic in General Discussions
That is logical. Additionally, I was contemplating the use of 'gun gum' paste on the gasket located between the turbocharger and catalytic converter. What are your opinions about gun gum? -

I have placed an order for a substitute manifold from eBay. There is a metal gasket present at the point where it is fastened to the EGR. I am certain that my previous one did not have a gasket on this 2 bolt connection. Is it possible that this was implemented after 2013? -
Optimal positioning of the turbo-catalyst gasket

The catalyst face has a concave shape, whereas the turbo face is flat. It is expected that the tabs would be facing into the turbo. Thank you very much. -
I own a BMW F31 318d equipped with the 2-liter N47 engine. Recently, I removed the engine and replaced all of the timing chains. Following the reinstallation of the engine, a leakage manifested in the exhaust turbo region. I was unable to visually locate the source of the leak, nevertheless, the drivetrain malfunction indicator persistently appeared. While attempting to remove the exhaust manifold heat cover, I inadvertently fractured the banjo bolt responsible for securing the exhaust gas sensor. After removing the exhaust manifold, I have identified that the first leakage may be originating from the gasket/clamp connecting the turbocharger and the catalyst. The user did not provide any text. I neglected to apply a new gasket while reinstalling the engine. Perhaps it would have been prudent to do so? Additionally, is the metal gasket reversible or does it need a set orientation? Thank you.

According to Matt865, the substance is diluted with diesel when regeneration processes fail. I had a 635d vehicle that underwent excessive regeneration cycles, resulting in a gradual accumulation of oil levels. Hopefully, your situation is only a result of over filling, which is really the most probable explanation. Greetings

The multimedia cable is not producing any sound.
dave783 replied to dave783's topic in General Discussions
I successfully connected the iPhone 15 to the Mercedes multimedia system using a USB-C connection. I managed to enable audio output via the AUX input by using a 3.5mm to USB-C converter connected to the Mercedes multimedia system's 3.5mm wire. It has come to my attention that you are able to perceive auditory stimuli, a fact that seems to be unknown to many. I am determined to spread this knowledge and have a significant impact on the world. 😂 If I come across a Bluetooth adapter, I will get it, albeit the specific model remains unknown. -

I have purchased a 30-pin to Bluetooth adapter for my Apple device. I am curious to see whether it works properly. -

Yes, it has been almost 9 years since I last had a Mercedes. I just purchased a new EQC mostly for the tax benefits, and I also have a 2011 SL350. However, I am now seeing difficulties in connecting my iPhone to the Comand 2.5 multimedia system in the SL350, which is causing me. Is Richard from Comand still available? -

I have just discovered that I need either a specialised cable or a Bluetooth adaptor. -

The cable I have is new old stock, meaning it is a previously unused item. The iPhone connector on the cable is designed for devices that were released before the introduction of the lightning connector. I have been informed that I need an inverter or an other cable. -

The SL350 has had no problems with the EQC. -
Greetings once again, gentlemen, I was formerly a member but have recently returned with a renewed enthusiasm, owning both an EQC and an SL350 from 2011. I own three cables that accompany the multimedia package and are intended for use with the socket located in the central console. I connected my USB cord to the USB port and the phone is charging, but there is no audio and I am unable to see it on the head unit. iPhone 15 Pro Max Is there any other need or am I missing anything evident? I would want to connect my phone to the car's audio system in order to play music and other audio content.
