  1. All pins seem to align properly, and it is the older model with longer batteries. Could my new board originate from a non-E30 model or a six-cylinder vehicle? I own the 1988 E30 318i once again.
  2. Upon removing the old board, I neglected to get a full-length photograph, resulting in just a partial glimpse of the original board. Refer to the attachment. The acid corrosion has eroded the printed connectors on the circuit board. I lack a functional rev counter, the brake light is always illuminated, and the service lights are exhibiting erratic behaviour. Refer to the attached original board. The electrical components and layout are distinct when comparing the original and replacement boards. I lack expertise in electronics and find it challenging to comprehend onboard components, such as capacitors. The new board seems to be in decent condition; I can easily change the batteries. There are some green flecks on the printed connections, but I can clean them gently with a toothbrush and some electronic solvent. Thank you for your assistance.
  3. Greetings everyone, I need assistance in determining the specific BMW model associated with a SI board I purchased second-hand. I own a 1988 E30 318i. A few weeks back, I removed the SI board and changed the leaking batteries while attempting to rectify issues with the rev counter and the service lights malfunctioning. My original SI board sustained significant damage from the acid leak, prompting me to purchase a secondhand replacement, anticipating it would be in superior shape. The board I discovered on eBay seems to be in excellent condition, however the batteries have seen little leakage, which I can replace with relative ease. My inquiry pertains to the fact that some electrical components on my new board seem marginally different to those on the board now installed in my vehicle. An E30 board, originating from Germany, was sold to me. I have attached the board I acquired; could anybody with expertise in BMW SI boards ascertain if it is an E30 board? Thank you!
  4. Enquire if the sump was removed during the chain replacement and whether the oil pump pickup was inspected for debris.
  5. I would not operate it with a low oil pressure problem. What tools are required? I believe a 16mm spanner is necessary to relieve tension, along with a 4 or 5mm drill bit to secure it in a de-tensioned state.
  6. The idle level is low. I would want around 1.7 bar; since it is an N43, I would replace the oil control valve and reassess.
  7. The bulb in the Daytime Running Light may be faulty. Some are not compatible with can-bus and will display an error.
  8. It seems to be the propeller centre bearing, which is an inexpensive component that can be easily replaced; however, the exhaust must be lowered, among other tasks.
  9. Corrosion of the alloy on the top margins of the doors is prevalent.
  10. Is it a favourable outcome or not? Appears exquisite. The hue complements the black wheels well. Are the overall operational expenses and upkeep comparable to those of the 530?
  11. That is nice to peruse. I would prefer the GC because of my little, growing children utilising it. I like the value offered by any of these options; one receives substantial automotive performance for the investment. Thank you!
  12. Greetings, everyone. I want opinions about my forthcoming BMW acquisition. Regrettably, my 530d was just declared a total loss (not due to my negligence!). I would like a 535d, while I also have a strong inclination towards the 640d. The period in question is from 2014 to 2016. Are they equally proficient? All feedback is appreciated. Thank you
  13. Please try one again using correct English.
  14. I was contemplating this; however, what do you consider the current market pricing for an oil and filter change? Last month, I received a quotation of around £560. Does it seem accurate?
  15. Furthermore, I have heard that adaptations should only be altered if components inside the gearbox have been changed, such as clutches and similar parts.
  16. I possess a receipt indicating that the oil and filter were replaced around 30,000 miles ago. The vehicle presently has around 157,000 miles.
  17. Greetings to everyone, I am encountering gearbox problems, particularly in cold conditions. I acknowledge that I should not have, but I inadvertently reset my adaption settings due to encountering abrupt changes and related issues. Occasionally, the vehicle inadvertently downshifts, resulting in a money shift, which is rather concerning. From a cold start, it seems to slide until the converter engages (about 20 mph to 25 mph), after which it seems to function well. The following is a picture of the present adaption values recorded. Can anybody provide insight into the potential problems with the gearbox? No codes are kept on the TCU either.
  18. Numerous individuals here readily endorse them, despite my own negative experience. It is hoped that they would observe this and respond to you.
  19. Indeed, the 4/5 change is functioning as intended, and the gearbox is operating well. The E\S switch is also functional. Currently, there is an occasional issue where a switch fails to activate the reverse lights when I shift into reverse. I first thought it was the neutral safety switch; however, it seems to be something else. I will contact my technician to ascertain the component more precisely. He seemed uncertain as well.
  20. The garage did not respond to my inquiry yesterday on the selection module switch, and I am uncertain about the specific item in question. My mechanical skills have deteriorated compared to their previous state. Experts on vintage automobiles are becoming scarce. The former proprietor of the establishment could detect these issues instantaneously. However, when seeing my wife reverse the vehicle in Lidl's parking lot, I saw that both the reversing lights and the back wiper were functioning. I now possess the most lamentable of flaws - an intermittent one. Should I persist with my ongoing enquiries? Affirmative! Certainly. What grounds do you have for doubting me? The MOT is scheduled for March, allowing me plenty time. I will provide an update when I obtain further information.
  21. I had always aspired to drive a 928. I have just retrieved the vehicle from the repair shop, where it was indicated that the selection module switch, located inside the shifter mechanism behind the polished hardwood centre console, is likely the issue. I possess no knowledge on this subject. Has anybody encountered this component before? I am contemplating if the use of contact cleaner into the shifter gate might effectively cleanse the switch. They will investigate the matter and respond to me. I will keep you informed.
  22. Thank you, everyone. Indeed, I observed many on eBay; nonetheless, I am apprehensive about installing a component that is already deteriorated. Will the Porsche component be identical to the Mercedes-Benz part? It seems that some components are shared.
