  1. Why not go for the ML 500 instead of the ML 430? The engine is newer and more technologically sophisticated.
  2. Affirmative, it is indeed possible to do this task, and BMW does provide mirror actuators for sale. These actuators are handed, meaning they have specific versions for the left and right sides of the vehicle. Here are the corresponding component numbers:https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BL92-EUR-04-2003-E46-BMW-M3&diagId=51_4233 These items are exclusive to the M3-M5 models and have a price of £240 apiece.
  3. The automobile is quite pleasant. In addition, I have all the original accessories that were included with the vehicle when it was purchased new. I own a pre-owned 2011 R8 Spyder with a manual gearbox, which I bought brand new. I have not personally experienced driving the second generation Audi R8, but I anticipate that it would be impressive considering the many similarities shared between both vehicles. I had always questioned if the Lamborghini is superior... until I placed an order for a new 2022 model. I own a rear-wheel drive Evolution Lamborghini, and for me, the aesthetic appeal of the car alone justifies its value. Both vehicles possess exceptional visual appeal. However, the Italian outfit has unique qualities, and it is my belief that all sports vehicles should ideally have rear-wheel drive (RWD). Best wishes in your endeavours, no matter what path you decide to pursue.
  4. The topic posed was whether it was feasible to abstain from using any aftermarket items on a 2000 automobile. If not, then a valve controller should be used. If you are still dissatisfied, you may consider installing a legal aftermarket exhaust system. Kline manufactures GPF/OPF exhaust systems. Reportedly, the sound is 40% louder than the original and has a higher pitch. I don't want the automobile to produce the highest level of noise within the range typical of supercars, but I do desire it to emit a sound like that of a supercar. I have come across many owners that express satisfaction with the original exhaust system after installing a valve controller. I had anticipated that 2021 would be a significant turning point, but based on your statement, it seems that it is not.
  5. The European R8 Performance cars on YouTube produce an impressive sound when equipped with aftermarket exhaust systems. I am uncertain about the specific year of their origin.
  6. I am uncertain about the specific location in the southern region of England where I may get an aftermarket exhaust and valve controller installed on my R8. Or which exhaust and valve controller should I choose? I am now searching for automobiles manufactured from 2020 onwards, with low mileage, namely under 7,000 miles. Is it more advantageous for me to choose a 2020 model over a 2022/23 model in terms of exhaust performance?
  7. I have successfully removed the badges off several automobiles, and the aforementioned ways are really effective. Apply mild heat using a hair dryer, utilise dental floss to detach badges, and thereafter eliminate any remaining residue. The trick is in adopting a slow and careful approach. Wishing you success. (By the way, does anybody know of any additional techniques?) Do the professionals do the task in a similar manner?
  8. The ATF change refers to a maintenance procedure for the gearbox.
  9. The automobile has entered limp mode as a protective measure. It is necessary to have the fault codes examined, since the issue might be of various kind.
  10. Shortly after replacing the boot seal, water returned with great intensity. I brought it to a Body Shop that identified the leak. There are two areas of rust below, where the seam seal has also deteriorated. We conducted a test by having someone enter the trunk and then I forcefully sprayed water using a high-pressure water jet. Merely applying a seal on the outside has been shown to be inadequate. The optimal choice is to put sealant on the inside and exert pressure with your finger to maximise the amount applied. Since the application of seam sealer from the back requires the removal of the rear bumper. Please note that I am now overseeing the temporary repair, which involves utilising a window bonding solution on the inside of the boot/panel until I am able to replace it correctly.
  11. Indeed, I too engaged in the activity you mentioned subsequent to perusing your discussion. I have also sealed the boot lid plate with tigerseal at a body shop when installing a facelift one. However, in this occasion, I monitored the water ingress specifically originating from the seal of the boot lid. Upon exerting pressure, water was seen to be flowing out. Furthermore, there are now rust spots present all around. I will address this issue and see the outcome. However, I am grateful for the assistance and contributions from everyone. If the issue is not resolved, it may be necessary to reconsider the other areas.
  12. It has been discovered that the source of water leakage is really the rubber seal around the boot. Discovered a component in close proximity and applied pressure to the rubber seal, resulting in the observation of water infiltrating the inside of the seal. Although I replaced it three years ago, I am considering purchasing a new one and installing it without any silicone oil or sealer, following the dry/factory method. Uncertain about the specific orientation required for placing the seal. Do you have any guidance or recommendations?
  13. Regrettably, the previous effort to rectify the water leakage in the trunk was unsuccessful. After doing many further inquiry efforts, I used UV dye and discovered that water is infiltrating via the panel gaps shown below. I should have noticed earlier, since there are now little areas of rust below. I want to apply seam sealer to this area after doing rust treatment, sanding, and painting. However, it remains unclear as to the source of the entry point. I followed the advice given in another post and generously applied silicone sealant to the rubber seal in the boot and the gaskets of the tail lights. In addition to some regions coated with silicone grease. The boot lid panel has been resealed with tiger seal. All of the rubber trimmings have also been replaced. The individuals mentioned in the typical suspects have been acknowledged and considered in accordance with the previous guidance provided by others. Water does not immediately flow down to the marked sections when poured from the top. Creating a deceptive perception. I am concerned that putting seam sealer to this portion may result in water flooding the opposite side of the panel, namely where the boot lock hinge is located. Since it is an electronic boot release. Has anybody else encountered a similar situation previously? What precautions should be taken while applying seam sealer? I purchased a brush specifically designed for applying seam sealant.
  14. Thank you! Regarding the gap, I am uncertain about the reason for the asymmetry between the left and right sides. I could not see any indications of prior damage, which leaves me perplexed as to the cause.
  15. I have successfully located the source of the water infiltration into the spare wheel well region of the car's trunk. I replaced the gaskets for both tail lights and the rubber seals on both sides. Unfortunately, I have not been successful yet. Subsequently, I tracked the path of the water flow and saw that it runs beside the boot rubber seals, as indicated by the side trim pieces. Furthermore, I noticed a disparity in the panel on the left, but the right side had a somewhat narrow gap. To rectify this, I used a dolly to gently hammer down the left side, aiming to achieve a somewhat similar alignment. I purchased a new rubber seal from authorised dealers, together with rust converter and sealer, which resolved the issue. If you have water in the boot region, I suggest inspecting the rubber seal for any symptoms of rust, particularly in the lower section, before purchasing a new gasket or rubber side trims. It may just need a £5 sealant to repair the region, unless you are really meticulous. The closure of the boot has become somewhat more difficult after the replacement of the boot seal.
  16. I have just been informed that most items are not suitable for use since the carpet is made of wool, rather than synthetic material. Therefore, no devices equipped with a rotating brush. We have decided to continue using our existing corded Electrolux cylinder vacuum cleaner since it has an air circulation hole and does not have a spinning brush.

  18. I feel that it is necessary to use an official version of STAR, either via an independent expert or a Mercedes-Benz dealer.
  19. I believe it may need calibration. However, there is a possibility that you may have a fortunate outcome. I own a 2011 vehicle, and the only sensor installed in it is responsible for regulating the xenon levelling system. I have successfully loosened the nut, but I have not yet managed to detach the bracket. For my next endeavour, I plan to detach the arm in order to facilitate the removal of the bracket on the workbench.

  21. There are several excellent independent mechanics in my area, which is in the northeast. I recall there being one in either Leeds or Nottingham that specialises in gearbox repairs and is really skilled. They also provide a wide range of other automotive services. I will try to get their contact information for you.
  22. That statement is often accurate, until it reaches the point when an additional storage facility is required to accommodate all the belongings.
