  1. I just stopped by to show you the two automobiles I bought with my friend for some summer garage fun. Since we first acquired them, they've made a lot of progress.
  2. Gasket Combustion Leak Test Kit / Universal Petrol & Diesel Block Tester BT-500 | eBay
  3. How did they get a grille designed for a Sprite flipped on its side? As soon as I locate his flat driving hat and greasy designer oil rag, Gearhead Ken is going in the trash.
  4. Hello! My 5 series's front bumper has been damaged and has to be repaired. I've never had any auto body work done before and was hoping to get some advice. The appearance of the bonnet is the most important thing to me. No mismatched colors or sun-fadeaway paint as someone at my office experienced after having her vehicle doors resprayed (wtf). A body shop in Bristol charged me £750, and they said it may cost up to £1500 to color match and integrate the wings. When I told the guy at the Hereford body shop that the estimate was inexpensive and asked whether the car would end up looking the same, save the scratches, he indicated it would. In my opinion, it's best to go with the factory finish (even if it's not perfect; I'll settle with 987.4% ;)). - If it's simply paint and not a dent, I'd fill them with a touch up pen (several layers), flatten, wet sand, then polish back to shine. A fresh coat of paint may appear great for a year or two, but I've found that it's easy to recognize a painted panel.
  5. Dismantling a fully functional vehicle does no damage. If sold on Bring a Trailer, they may fetch as much as $50,000. On that site, a '66 that was considerably nicer on the outside than in the engine bay recently sold for $123,000. At long last, recognition is being given to these automobiles.
  6. After resetting the TCU. Went out in it today to a restaurant in the neighborhood. When I got there, the vehicle was stuck in third gear, and I was unable to shift it into park since it was locked in third gear and I had driven there in it. It was necessary for me to stop the automobile while it was in N and then put it in P. However, there were no issues on the trip home.🥲
  7. Your remark gives the impression of being costly. I don't believe that I have a mobile phone plan... I have no idea what you are talking about! This morning I went through the process of resetting the TCU, and while I was sitting in the vehicle, I fired it up and jiggled the gears elector to check if it would register correctly. It did.
  8. To everyone, I could need some help with this situation. During the process of reversing the automobile, I came to a halt and placed it in drive (I believe the car was still rolling back very little even after I did this). The transmission then failed to shift out of first gear, where it had been stuck, and I saw that the readout was displaying R rather than D. After two minutes, the EML light turned on. After that, I was able to park the vehicle, but when I tried to put the gear selector into P, it went into N instead. In order to move the automobile into P, I had to switch off the engine. When I turned the vehicle back on, the gear selector was operational, but the EML light was on. After then, the vehicle started operating in the limp mode. After doing the reset and starting the vehicle once again, it seemed to function normally; nevertheless, the gearshifts were very rough. Although everything seems to be functioning OK, the automobile just doesn't feel quite right. The EML light is not active. It had the code p0705. We are really grateful for suggestions and support. Sincere gratitude
  9. To all of you: This information comes from the V5 document for my 2010 W212 e350. Based primarily on the v.4, which, from what I understand, has to be 0.08 in order to be considered euro 6, my best estimate is that it is not euro 6. And v.3 Do you agree or disagree with me? If this is the case, is a refit possible that would bring it into compliance and allow it to be registered with the DVLA as such? Merci à tous
  10. I'm always surprised by how many cars people leave around. As Daz said, what a find!
  11. I cannot recall which of these resolved the issue with my X key, but as previously stated, the key charges the ignition when driving. BMW X5 - Programming Key Remote Three strategies to try: Method 1: Working from inside the vehicle with the hatches closed Within 5 seconds, turn the ignition to position 1 and then off again. Remove the key from the ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds; then, within 5 seconds, press the key lock button three times. 4. Let go of both keys. Doors will close and release to demonstrate precise programming. Method 2: For this procedure, you will need one functional key and one key that requires programming. 1) Enter and secure all doors. 2) Turn the ignition on and off rapidly. (No longer than five seconds) to initiate the procedure. The next action must occur within 30 seconds. 3) Eliminate the first key. 4) Hold the button near your left shoulder so that it is closer to the antenna of the remote receiver. 5) Maintaining the unlock button depressed, press the lock button three times. When the unlock button is released, the doors secure, confirming the operation. 6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the second key, etc. If it does not work, try pressing the keys backwards. Instead of 1 then 2, press 2 then 1. Method 3: Alternate if you lack a functional remote Quickly turn the key to position 1 five times 2. Remove the key 3. Hold the unlock button, then press the lock button three times, and then release the unlock button. 4. If you have another key, select the identical button within 30 seconds 5.Start the engine to conclude. NOTE: This programming procedure programmes the key's remote control feature. A specialist is required to programme any transponder device for the immobiliser (car beginning).
  12. Was it a private or dealer purchase, etc.? If dealer, etc., return it. As ridiculous as it may seem, is it a disc changer? Dust might cause this, so try blowing into it instead. Key may need to be reprogrammed; my E46 is now experiencing this issue. Sorry, I can't assist with TV displays.
  13. What matters is the taper angle (0 45 90)? (complete camber / half and half / complete toe) However, since the pivot angle for the trailing arm is around 30 degrees, there will always be bump steer from the rear; Ford purposefully built it this way. This is also how the BMW Z axle works. In a PURE back axle, the rear wheels track inside the front wheels while turning, and the front wheels take a greater side load (due to the larger diameter circle they take), resulting in understeer in the limit (BAD). Having some rear steer due to roll (the inside wheel is lightly loaded and simply skids) evens out the side load and makes the car safer. Because they were built for a rear suspension with the trailing arm pivot across the vehicle and no rear roll steer, the cheap modified tiny dampers that became zimerides couldn't control the back end.
  14. https://awooga.nl/stuff/vdo.html Hope it helps someone!
  15. Is there a possible explanation for the failure?
  16. Nothing more to say, but Johnny seems like an old-school mechanic rather than a new professional who would just replace a component and watch how it went rather than attempt a repair or fix.
  17. Give us feedback on the RS tyres. Be significantly enhanced with a facelift. I did the same thing as you and replaced the back tyres first, but not long thereafter discovered that the front tyres also needed replacing.
  18. To be honest, this has been completed countless times. There are many excellent tyres available; it depends on your needs. As stated, I like Uniroyal's, but others do not because they do not perform well over long distances; however, I don't travel far, so they suit me. I believe reviews are the way to go for smooth travel and fewer miles with Uniroyal tyres and so on.
  19. Many people have switched from run-flat tyres to regular ones. All four of my tyres are Uniroyal rainsports. I now also carry a 12v pump and a plug kit.
  20. If I'm not sure, I just change them for what it costs.
  21. Have you replaced all of the hoover pipes? You seem to have a split in one or two of them.
  22. Excellent article, Boostist! Two thumbs up! And for those who are curious, OBD is an abbreviation for "on board diagnostics":cool
  23. Again, the awful black gunge. As Johnnie says, the only way to stop it from blocking is to turn off the tank.
