  1. The main issue with N14 engines is that they tend to overheat and experience oil deficiency. While the bottom end may be in good condition, these engines often suffer from camshaft wear, particularly if there are grooves present. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement heads without grooves. Alternatively, one could consider looking into PSA engines THP, which are essentially the same as N14 engines but without any additional components. I will be working on one of these engines next week, specifically from a 207 GTI into a Cooper S, and will be refreshing it. I highly recommend honing the engine and installing better rings. The recommended option for oil rings is the 3 piece oil rings, specifically the FAI PR12-000 standard. Another suitable choice is the SM RS1600 std, which also has 3 piece oil rings and is considered the most optimal solution.
  2. What is the reason behind the relatively low prices of R8 cars in Europe? That amount is equivalent to a significant sum of money in the United States.
  3. What is the purpose if they have no impact. Financially imprudent.
  4. Thank you for providing the information. I don't believe I will pursue it further.
  5. Thank you for your response. Did you see any discernible variation in the handling or not?
  6. Greetings, individuals.I am considering installing wheel spacers on both the front and back of my 2015 S5. Could you please share your experience with these or provide recommendations for my specific vehicle?
  7. In my opinion, several seat designers and constructors have acquired valuable knowledge from Recaro over the years.
  8. I believe that the Emirates A380 aircraft we travelled on during our recent trip to Mauritius were equipped with Recaro seats. I regarded them to be satisfactory.
  9. It is disheartening to see this, since Recaro has consistently produced exceptional vehicle seats over the years.
  10. Apply a layer of copper oil over the area where the wheel will be attached.
  11. My 2006 E90 330d was equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). To determine whether your vehicle has a DPF, inspect the tailpipes. whether they are straight, it indicates the presence of a DPF. Conversely, if the tailpipes are pointed downwards, it suggests that the vehicle does not have a DPF.
  12. Indeed, I anticipated that it would be costly, considering the typically high prices associated with most MB products. Regrettably, an automobile lacks value in the absence of a suspension system.
  13. My mine has been thoroughly examined by two very skilled mercenary experts, but unfortunately, they were unable to find a solution. As a result, I am now attempting to fully remove the air system.
  14. Thank you. I have replaced almost all of it, totaling over 3,000 units, across two separate garages. Due to the extensive amount of time my automobile spent in the garage, I decided to purchase another vehicle.
  15. I own a 2012 E250 W212 Estate that has consistently shown issues with its rear air suspension. Does anybody know whether it is possible to uninstall the airbags and replace them with springs to create a traditional springs/shock absorber system? I am selling the automobile and I am looking for the lowest feasible price. What kind of springs are employed, if it is possible to achieve?
  16. I request that you provide us with regular updates on this matter as I will be closely monitoring it.
  17. The rear discs on my E250, which is a 14 plate model, are now solid and have a thickness of 10mm when they are new. I have noticed that there is an additional choice available for rear brake discs, which are vented and have a diameter of 22mm. Can a switch to a vented system be made? Thank you.
  18. Utilise comparison websites to get the best insurance rates. I went from LV, who increased my premium double, to Tesco. Obtained a more advantageous agreement by purchasing via the TCB (TOPCASHBACK) website and received a £45 rebate. LV is an excellent insurance company that stands out for being one of the few insurers who provide coverage for panoramic roofs.
  19. It's simple to buy a used automobile and pour money at it. My advice for a 90k miler is to simply keep going and deal with problems as they come. Get to know a reliable expert you can rely on to be practical when it comes to repairs and maintenance if you can't handle it yourself. If you want to retain this for the long haul, I would be more worried about corrosion, especially on a 26-year-old vehicle. Maybe you should have the undercarriage checked out and protected against rust. There are plenty of new and used components available, and most of the other equipment is just bolt on/off.
  20. The advice (from several sources) differs greatly. (Highlighting) "Unless explicitly requested, there is no legal requirement to notify your insurance provider about your enrollment in a speed awareness course."If they do, it is crucial that you maintain honesty, since failing to do so might result in your vehicle insurance being invalid. The official website of my insurance provider, LV, declares: "There is no need to notify LV that you will be attending a speed awareness course or that you have already finished one." Please submit details about any demerit points on your driving licence as a consequence of a traffic conviction or fixed penalty notice. It is recommended to quietly scrutinise the policies of your insurance provider.
  21. Prior to starting the ignition of your 2008 Clubman S, it is advisable to adhere to the following safety measures: Inspect and replenish all fluids, including oil, coolant, and brake fluid. Recharge or replace the battery. Examine the gasoline for impurities and consider including a fuel stabiliser. Inspect the tyres to ensure they are adequately inflated. Inspect belts and hoses for any indications of degradation. It is advisable to replace the oil and filter in order to avoid a dry start. After completing these procedures, engage the engine and let it to idle for a few while before commencing driving.
  22. It seems that the oil control ring around the piston is made of plastic, which is surprising. I am certain that the design is of poor quality.
  23. I was unaware that the oil control ring was made of plastic. It seems that the engine designers were likely aware of the flawed design.
