  1. Did you add 5 litres? The oil level only increases by around 1 litre while filling the dipstick from completely empty to maximum capacity, which takes roughly 5 units of measurement. I recommend refraining from using the engine until it has been thoroughly drained and replaced with the appropriate quantity of fluid. I suspect that the pistons may be submerged when they reach the bottom dead centre (BDC) position.
  2. I would want to replace the plugs. whether the oil seems greasy when the plug is removed, it is likely that the oil level has decreased. It would be prudent to determine the actual cause before replacing the rocker gasket, since it would need to be removed regardless whether the head is taken off. Replace the injector with a different cylinder and observe whether the problem transfers to the new location. Performing a compression test is a recommended course of action.
  3. Have you notified your insurance provider about this incident? If you have European Cover and Arson is not explicitly excluded in your policy, you should be eligible for coverage and they will be obligated to provide compensation. The responsibility is with the individuals to make a claim on the insurance for the garage. However, it is important to note that this claim will be seen as a formal request for compensation, which may result in an increase in your insurance rates. Nevertheless, if your insurance company successfully recovers the entire amount from the garage's insurance, you may get a refund for the premium increase, and the claim will ideally be categorised as not being your fault.
  4. I would go, as previously said. The garage itself should be acquainted with a reputable BMW specialist in the vicinity. A friend of mine owns a garage, and when he has difficulties with a BMW, he seeks my assistance. If I am unable to provide a solution, we conclude that it requires the expertise of Stuart, who must possess extensive knowledge of BMWs.
  5. Consider reaching out to @bwchiptune, since he is located in the same vicinity.
  6. Performing a thorough and meticulous cleaning is the first step to take in order to increase the likelihood of pinpointing the source of the leak. Once the origin of the leak is determined, you can then proceed to make an informed choice on the appropriate course of action.
  7. I agree with getting rid of the run-flat tyres. It will modify the automobile.
  8. I hope they resolve the issue for you, considering the substantial amount of money you likely spent on purchasing a new one. You might have had the last one repaired, since it was not a significant task.
  9. I had no difficulties when I replaced the battery in a 2004 e46 that I owned before. From whence did they get the module? Is it defective? Additionally, I acquired a second-hand car key for my friend's vehicle around four years ago. I purchased it from an online marketplace, specifically from a similar car model. This particular key was designed to be easily installed and activated, requiring just a synchronisation process with the keyfob.
  10. In the past, I have successfully corrected similar issues on several vehicle models, however I have not specifically worked on a BMW. Therefore, I cannot definitively confirm whether the repair can be performed on a BMW, although I would be astonished if it were impossible.
  11. Hopefully, the price of these mirrors will be lower than that of the M6 mirrors. 🤣🤣
  12. The Mk1 human eyeball and eye correction are designed for those with severe visual impairment, similar to my own condition.
  13. Understood, friend. I will postpone the concept for now, focusing on other tasks such as the wheel arch, and attempt to serendipitously locate a high-quality one. I value your counsel, my friend.
  14. What were the prevalent malfunctions of your device in the past? I am willing to tolerate minor repairs sometimes, but I really like to avoid frequent major infrastructure failures.
  15. Is the wear mostly cosmetic, or will it result in a louder cockpit or any other related issues? Can I anticipate a significant improvement in performance when upgrading from a 318D to a 325i? Thank you for your response, friend. I am not in a hurry to complete the exchange, so I will remain vigilant for a vehicle owned by an enthusiast, as per your recommendation.
  16. Presently, I own a 2012 318D with around 145,000 miles on the odometer, and it continues to operate quite well. The problem is that I have had it for some years and need a device with more power. I am considering selling it and exchanging it for a vehicle from around the year 2004 or later, namely a 325i or 330 model with less than 100,000 miles on it. Both options seem to have similar worth, so theoretically I would not have to pay any money upfront. Will the older versions remain mechanically dependable if well-maintained, or will I just be acquiring a financial burden? Any recommendations or past encounters would be very appreciated.
  17. I am uncertain whether this information would be beneficial, but I wanted to inform you that my F07 vehicle just had a recall for the EGR cooler. Sorry if the horse has already escaped ......
  18. Purchased it from a dealership but want to verify the information before returning to them - I would seem foolish if it is really intended for the left panel to remain inactive.
  19. Greetings, everyone. Last weekend, I acquired a 2015 F31 335D. During my journey back home, I saw a potential problem that I have researched on Google but have not been able to find a conclusive response to. According to the mdecoder website, one of the specified options for the vehicle was 'S6WA - Instrument Panel with Extended Scope'. I believe this refers to the supplementary digital screens located underneath the analogue gauges on the dashboard. The glass underneath the speedometer dial on my automobile is consistently empty. Is the purpose of the design to just replicate the form of the little display on the right for the sake of symmetry, or does it have a specific function for displaying something? I conducted an internet search for 'S6WA' in order to make a comparison, however the search results displayed several slightly varied variations, making it impossible to ascertain with complete certainty. I have also explored the iDrive settings for modifying the displayed content, and it seems that all options are selected. I cannot determine whether activating the screen is the only necessary step. Does anybody own a vehicle of comparable age that has the same instrument panel and can provide confirmation in either direction?
  20. I am experiencing the same issue and would much appreciate any assistance in resolving it. The BMW F46 has a fault with the code 24CF00.
  21. Substitute the Transformers badges with BMW badges and the value will significantly increase... I would recommend beginning at a minimum of 4,000 or more. Exceeding the mere worth of junk, but sufficient to entice the providers of components in the backyard...
  22. I got the oil changed earlier than planned last week. The subsequent alteration has been scheduled to occur after covering a distance of 18,000 kilometres. However, while inspecting the iDrive service history, there is no documentation of the most recent oil change. I am certain, but not absolutely certain, that it was entered, but it seems to have vanished. A local mechanic performed an oil change and updated the iDrive system in my vehicle. However, they were unable to update the key fob, which does not bother me. Is it typical for the iDrive service history to be updated without registering anything such as an oil change or brake pad replacement? Are only complete services recorded?
  23. If you want to maintain ownership of the car for a long length of time, it is recommended to change the oil and filter after driving between 7,000 and 10,000 miles. Carry out the regular maintenance tasks, while additionally including supplementary oil and filter replacements. You may accrue lunar miles by caring for it in this way.
