  1. Past hour
  2. Then I have a request: please don't be timid and disappear after introducing yourself or popping a repair Q. It was too high. Write down your successes, setbacks, and discoveries in a tiny journal. Show us your ride, tell us about your travels, and get in on the action!
  3. It seemed like the right moment to create an account after perusing this topic for a while. It seems like a real community here, and there is a wealth of excellent information shared. My interests include driving, understanding how things function, and listening to stories from the actual world. I am excited to get into the discussions and meet new people.
  4. Downloading the maps via Mercedes me does not need purchasing the PIN from MB. Anyone can download it, but it won't accomplish anything if you don't have a PIN number. You may get the genuine MB PIN code from any number of dealers for anything from £99 to £250.
  5. "This vehicle has already been created." is the message that appears when I try to register the automobile, despite the fact that I registered for Mercedes Me previously. To verify your identity as the vehicle's new owner, please get in touch with your local Mercedes-Benz dealer. Does anybody have any idea how much the pin code to authorise a download from Mercedes Me would cost? I plan to call my local dealer tomorrow to find out.
  6. No, you may get the map data for free right from Mercedes-Benz with Mercedes me. Just be sure you purchase the PIN code associated with your VIN. Instead of downloading 50 GB on your home Internet, you may utilise the SD card that the vendor is providing. It was my intention to address the worry that the SD card provided by the vendor may be corrupted and cause the installation to fail.
  7. I take it that you got it for free? After you confirm the card is suitable by providing the VIN number when you purchase, the vendor will send you an SD card with instructions and a PIN.
  8. Thank you once again for the very useful response.
  9. So long as you have the seller's PIN number, you may download the maps on a USB drive (~50gb) using your PC. There will be no damage done if you enter the wrong PIN since you will be asked for it before the installation begins. I've tried this several times and each time it worked. If you happen to encounter an erratic "can't read data" notice, just take out and re-insert the USB drive or SD card, and it will resume from the point it was before. Using three SD-Cards or USB drives is the correct method; the capacity is irrelevant; what matters is that the drives "mimick" the original three DVD installation. The process requires keeping the engine running (or having the battery hooked up to a trickle charger) for around 60 to 90 minutes. Even if you can't use the satellite navigation system, you may still drive the vehicle while the update is underway. The update will halt if you turn off the engine, but it will resume once you turn it back on.

  11. You're absolutely right; I'm grateful. You may find a vendor on eBay with reasonable prices and positive reviews; thus, updating via SD card should work. The fact that I do not own the original installation program is causing me anxiety in the event that it corrupts the existing maps.
  12. All three generations of NTG 4.5 (also known as NTG4.7) have identical maps. Your late-2013 vehicle should have NTG4.7, which means it can connect to the internet via both Android and iPhone. This is in contrast to NTG4.5, which could only connect via Android. In addition, the TomTom Live Data Subscription may be renewed using your car's GSM connection (KOM Module). However, keep in mind that this may not be possible now that Vodafone's 3g network is down. It is possible to go straight from the most antique maps to the most recent ones. Additionally, it is recommended to upgrade the firmware to the most recent version; however, this can only be accomplished using authentic MB STAR.
  13. The part number makes me think it could be for an SLK, but I'm not sure. Does it matter whether model year a model is from if the same software is used?
  14. Salutations everyone, My just purchased X218 CLS350 SB (first registered 18.9.2013, release date 11.6.13) would benefit from having its maps updated. It may be NTG 4.5 if I'm wrong, or NTG 4.7, which came out in June 2013. Is there a significant difference between the two versions in terms of map updates? The vehicle identification document specifies that it has a code 527 COMAND DVD APS navigation system and a code 810 premium sound system. Here is the current version as seen below. Do subsequent versions provide complete updates, or is it necessary to top each version with an update? Is there anything I need to be careful about since there are upgrades for memory cards and stuff? Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.
  15. Last week
  16. If it is in the budget, I will get the new tires. I would pick four of the same since clunks and difficulties might be caused by mismatched tires.
  17. As far as I'm concerned, the tires can be shredded since they aren't my current preferred option (I would love a whole set of similar ones). My goal in scheduling gearbox repair for this coming Friday is to finally have the 'thump' out of lower ratios eliminated, a problem that has plagued me with every high-miler I've ever owned.
  18. "Fun pedal" is a new one on me, but apparently they work and are entertaining, so I'll keep that one in mind. Also, if you hit the "fun pedal" too often, they'll devour your tires. But hey, life is too short.
  19. I want to thank everyone. I was able to get it for free as a buddy of mine had it sitting on his drive for three years and was about to send it for scrap. This antique diesel-powered vehicle has 148k miles on the odometer and is now a weekly commuting route between Nottinghamshire and West London. It starts up with the first turn of the key. I haven't spent enough money on her to make the experience as "finessed" as I would want it to be just yet, but she drives well and when I press the fun pedal, I get the results I desire. Plus, it's completely free of the features that have irritated me in the last several vehicles—for example, lane keep assist, speed sign alert, weariness monitor, etc.—so I can relax and enjoy the ride. Progress: Replaced battery Equip yourself with discs, pads, callipers, and flexi lines. A few tires Concrete manifold Inclusive service Carrier for new driver door handles The other set of items: A code for a remote fob Rear ARB bushes (MOT notice) Change the gearbox fluid. Vac cylinders and lines, as well as new engine mounts Updated audio system with Apple CarPlay compatibility (the original device only had one functional corner) With any luck, the vacuum cylinder will fix the engine's last wobble, and then everything will be fine. Since Turbo is the first, it may be considered later this year.
  20. This year marks the 24th anniversary of my beloved old X5, and it is still going strong.
