Blu_Ray_UK2007
I performed an oil and filter change yesterday, and today the iDrive indicated that the oil level was too high; however, the dipstick shows no oil level. The dipstick indicates no oil, although the gauge displays an excessively high reading. Everything was OK after the oil change yesterday. No oil is seeping anywhere. Even if there is a defective sensor, my dipstick should still indicate the presence of oil. I will examine the filter later today and inspect the dipstick. Does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you in advance.
ByteStorm
The iDrive is likely providing inaccurate readings because to the differential sensor in the sump; always rely on the dipstick for accurate measurements. What quantity of oil was added, and did you check the dipstick prior to starting the engine following the oil change?
IrvesBMW
Was there oil present on the dipstick after the oil change?
VWDaveBMW
It is evident that I am aware, but did you put the oil in the right orifice?
p00rmansp0rsche
Are you referring to the spherical container next to the radiator?

Blu_Ray_UK2007
Affirmative. Adjacent to the rear passenger door of the vehicle, there exists an aperture. I opened the flap, unscrewed the cap, and poured the oil in, which entered without any complications.
Blu_Ray_UK2007
I added a minimum of 6 litres and additional quantity. The dipstick indicated a near-full level. Upon driving, the iDrive system showed an excess of oil; thus, I extracted some oil, bringing the level to normal. However, after a brief drive, the level returned to maximum, but the dipstick displayed no oil. I parked and checked the dipstick this morning; it was at the minimum mark. I added around 0.75 litres, and it is now above the minimum line, about one-third of the way between the minimum and maximum levels on the dipstick. In this circumstance, I rely on the dipstick; should I add a little extra fluid? the dipstick is firmly and securely pressed down
ByteStorm
Indeed, I would assert that the dipstick reading was accurate originally, regardless of the indication from the I Drive system. Utilise the dipstick until the subsequent service, then replace the defective level sensor, since it seems to be providing inaccurate readings. Blu_Ray_UK2007
Thank you, friend.
VWDaveBMW
The dipstick is reliable, since it never provides false readings. After a level sensor malfunction during an oil change, I transferred the oil into a clean container and then returned it to the system. I use a 25-liter drum with the bottom removed. Blu_Ray_UK2007
Organised. I may have first added an excessive amount of oil, causing the sensor to register a high reading. Consequently, I removed what may have been an excessive quantity, resulting in a low level on the dipstick; nonetheless, the iDrive system still displayed an excess amount. There is a delay in the iDrive synchronisation. I used the dipstick measurement and added additional fluid till it indicated an appropriate level. After driving for thirty minutes, the iDrive system is functioning properly presently.
VWDaveBMW
The iDrive requires time to display an accurate level. Ensure the engine is heated prior to obtaining the reading. I would never trust it and would use the dipstick each time, if it is equipped with one.
