guyskin
Is anybody else irritated by Kia imposing an £80 fee for over-the-air upgrades in the second year? EV6 GT Line purchased in September 2023, including two complimentary upgrades inside the first year. Updates in September 2024 and November 2024 need a payment of £80 for OTA. I filed a complaint with Kia but received no resolution. Their customer assistance is utterly ineffective to engage with. Indeed, I am aware that I may download using the navigation updater and USB, and I have successfully completed the September 2024 update. However, for what reason? Is this only a frugal and parsimonious offering from Kia?
Darrellll
I am uncertain on the nature of your grievances. The cost was £40 for each upgrade at the dealership, with no option for self-service, even inside the first year. You now own an alternative. Howard_silver
Given that I have not made any payments, I was quite shocked when both of my devices upgraded themselves a few of weeks ago. I had resolved not to pursue this rather trivial change.
guyskin
I uphold my position. Charging £80 for upgrades after 12 months on a vehicle priced at over £50,000 is parsimonious and inadequate from Kia. The problem with me is not the price itself, but the hubris of Kia demanding any fee for OTAs so soon after purchase. Kia need to feel embarrassed and reassess this deal. Howard_silver
However, both of mine are over two years old.
jimmy47785
I can just reiterate the aforementioned. This is the same fee that Kia advised dealers to impose for an update before to the introduction of the 2021 self-updating feature. Thus, £80 annually prior to 2021, indicating it is less expensive today than it was then. Contrast prices between the UK and the US. $19.99 per month or $199 annually. jimmy47785
If you believe Kia is being It is only a frugal and parsimonious setup from Kia. It is undoubtedly inexpensive in comparison to several other brands. Who impose much higher charges. What is the cost of a Ford Live traffic subscription in the UK? Following the two-year free trial, the continuation of the Live Traffic Service to augment your Navigation system will incur a fee of £60, inclusive of VAT, for an additional two years. This pertains only to live service, which is provided free for a duration of seven years. Avoid considering the expenses associated with Mercedes or BMW. Motoman
My last BMW incurred a cost of £80 for 12 months of linked drive, £80 for map updates, and £25 for speed camera alerts; thus, I am willing to pay £80.
TDudette
I may not gain any supporters with this statement, however Kia let me to download the update from their website, transfer it to a USB drive, and then upgrade my vehicle. With OTA, Kia's only additional expense is the bandwidth required for data downloads. In contemporary times, that is not costly, suggesting they impose charges due to their ability to exploit client convenience. They are offering a seven-year warranty to differentiate themselves in the industry. Why not include seven years of OTA updates?
