Does your BMW have an AGM or EFB battery?
TechWhiz replied to IrvesBMW's topic in General Discussions
I was not aware that any BMW models were equipped with Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB). I had the understanding that all BMW vehicles used Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries. Is the banner battery a BMM battery? -
As previously said, I am unable to assist with the alternate engine search. However, I recommend revisiting the fundamental checks that one would typically expect a garage to do. The two diagnostic procedures that are often used in the automotive industry are the cylinder compression test and the coolant system pressure test. The scope being referred to in this context is the oscilloscope. There is a possibility that... Indeed, it is feasible to do relative compression tests using the appropriate components. And check the various engine orifices for pressure pulses.. Although not always certain, these clues typically provide guidance on the appropriate direction to pursue. If one intends to allocate funds towards a certain endeavour, it is quite likely that the current engine will need to be removed. It is possible that the issue you are experiencing might be attributed to a potential egr cooler leak. The detection of cracked blocks, cylinder heads, or gasket failure may be accomplished by the use of pressure testing.

After reviewing the provided information, it is understood that the vehicle in question is now in the possession of a specialist. Consequently, it may be inferred that all relevant tests that are feasible to do have likely been performed. The assessment of the head gasket condition lacks sufficient evidence, since there is no mention of the findings obtained from compression testing. Have these tasks been completed? Is it possible for them to be accomplished? I believe that a proficient scope technician have the capability to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the origin of exhaust gas pollution inside the cooling system. The assertion that the vehicle in question has sufficient power and exhibits satisfactory driving performance raises questions in my mind. Regardless of the results of the diagnostic tests, it is quite probable that an engine replacement will be necessary.

Is service B considered fraudulent or deceptive?
TechWhiz replied to Allan8932's topic in General Discussions
The ultimate responsibility for determining whether or not to contribute financially in order to maintain the Mercedes-Benz warranty lies solely with the individual. The vehicle in question is a five-year-old car with very low mileage. I am curious to ascertain the specific engine model installed inside this automobile. Could you please provide information or ask a specific question related to the topic of petrol? Is the gearbox an automatic gearbox? -
Is service B considered fraudulent or deceptive?

May I inquire about the year of manufacture of your vehicle, the current mileage it has accumulated, and your intended duration of ownership? I am inquiring about this matter since, with due regard, the A180 model has a rather low position within the hierarchy of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Depending on several factors such as the age and mileage of the vehicle, it may be advisable to consider transitioning from using Mercedes-Benz dealership services to seeking assistance from an independent repair. The servicing history in question is unlikely to significantly affect the future resale value. -
I kindly want guidance on a pair of CLKs.

In my opinion, diesel engines exhibit a high level of durability and reliability. The 280/350 petrol models from about 2006 (+/- 1 year) were reported to have encountered issues with the crankshaft. It is possible to get a list of engine numbers associated with the afflicted models on the internet. Please verify that the vehicle had a transmission fluid replacement at around 40,000 miles. Certain automobiles are now experiencing complications related to rear subframe rust, which occurs from the inside and progresses outward. It may be advisable to arrange for a thorough examination in order to assess the extent of the problem. As evident, the taxation on petrol is much higher in comparison to diesel fuel. It is important to consider that diesel vehicles currently do not meet the requirements of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London. -
Indeed, the application of a tastefully understated hue to the calipers would enhance their visual prominence. It is worth noting that my F31 330d xDrive has the presence of bigger calipers in a striking blue shade, complemented by the inclusion of M decals. Similarly, my M4 possesses this distinguishing feature, so adhering to the permissible standards.
-
In my previous experiences, I have observed that spraying calipers with an appropriate spray does not provide long-lasting results compared to painting. Additionally, painting allows for easy touch-ups in the event of minor damage, such as a chip caused by a stone impact. If the spokes of my wheels were tightly packed, I would have removed them before painting the calipers. However, this was not necessary with the 373m wheels, which made the process relatively simple. The calipers on my M4, which came with factory blue color, still appear aesthetically pleasing. However, it is possible that the stickers on the calipers may require refurbishment in a couple of years.

I purchased my stickers from an online marketplace, namely eBay. The package I received had three stickers of varying sizes.
-
The color red is suitable for an Alfa vehicle, however I believe that a BMW should instead be adorned in M Sport blue or black.
-
The recommended course of action would include thoroughly cleaning the object in question, using wire wool for a gentle polishing, followed by the application of a coat of high temperature paint in a color of one's preference. I prefer using brush painting techniques over spray painting methods due to the tendency of spray painting to disperse in various directions when applied to a car's surface.

I have just submitted a topic on this platform inquiring about the same subject. If feasible, could you kindly provide me with the pertinent information on the individual at Leeds, since I am now located in Chesterfield, which is in close proximity.I have not yet located any relevant listings on eBay, but I am actively searching. Thank you.

There seems to be a coolant leak in the W212 vehicle.
TechWhiz replied to Geek2232's topic in General Discussions
Raise the temperature to the desired level and inspect the coolant filling bottle and its corresponding piping for any potential leaks. In my electronic class, there was a minute puncture in the coolant reservoir that remained impermeable until reaching the appropriate temperature and being subjected to pressure. Was the recently installed water pump an authentic component manufactured by Mercedes? When the temperature of the engine has sufficiently decreased, cautiously place your palm underneath the water pump to assess the absence of any leakage in that area. I am taken aback by the omission of a leak inspection by the professional subsequent to the installation of the pump. -
In addition to the 20-amp rating of my fuse, it is confirmed that the fuse is in proper working condition.

Greetings everyone, I will review the matter tomorrow.

I possess knowledge on the matter at hand. In 2008, I had a same issue with my 2001 W220 S500L vehicle. The conductor plate was ultimately replaced with a reconditioned item; nevertheless, it cannot be definitively said that this course of action would resolve the issue at hand. The garage I used in the past was situated behind the Esso garage on Garratt Lane, next to the Wimbledon Dogs stadium. The concept of "long gone" refers to a situation or phenomenon that has ceased to exist or is no longer relevant. If it is of any assistance, this issue does not need advanced scientific knowledge in the field of rocketry. An individual with knowledge and expertise about the kit should promptly identify and rectify the issue. Two independent establishments that I would recommend are Alexanders in Twickenham. The provided contact information is 020 8898 5656. Engage in conversation with Ben. This year, the establishment has had a change in ownership, currently being managed by Nigel, a very knowledgeable individual specializing in Mercedes vehicles. Nigel has previously worked at MB Weybridge, further enhancing his expertise in this domain. It is worth noting that the establishment is equipped with all the necessary tools and equipment to effectively carry out their services. The service provider exhibits a pragmatic approach, demonstrating helpfulness and sensibility in their telephone interactions, as well as displaying reasonable pricing strategies. The PCS located at Horndean is very commendable; nonetheless, it is situated around 50 miles distant along the A3 route. It is suggested, but, I am skeptical that you are inclined to do a one-hour journey. Please contact Natasha and Ollie using the following telephone number: 023 9257 0123. Once again, the service provider exhibits a realistic approach, offering assistance over the phone and demonstrating appropriate pricing strategies. It is not recommended to engage with Bradshaw Webb. The organization is inundated with projects and assignments that are mostly associated with corporate entities and affluent individuals who are either the primary or secondary owners. Individuals that are not suitable for the use of outdated equipment.

In January, I encountered a novel collet type when I found myself in the position of having to replace my left rear Gen3. This particular tire had suffered substantial damage on an offroad excursion, perhaps in the segment that traversed the swamp. The bag ultimately became unusable on my journey to the southern region. The method for removing the airline proved elusive, necessitating the intervention of a technician who resorted to severing the airline. Fortuitously, there happened to be sufficient surplus length in the line, enabling its retrieval. I purchased a set of pliers often referred to as "duckbill" pliers from the online retailer Amazon, with the intention of using them to securely grasp a nut and gradually rotate it in order to disengage the airline. I have not yet attempted to do so. The challenge of fitting the top piece of the rear air springs through the aperture has been a matter of concern. After aligning the components, I proceed to partially insert the automobile, then lowering it onto the assembly, which often facilitates its complete insertion. However, the positioning of the airline's intake is just marginally higher than the metal surface. A few months ago, I made the decision to purchase an 08 LR3 as a replacement for my P38. Consequently, I am now transitioning towards engaging with new endeavors and facing fresh obstacles. With that being said, I have just concluded a 42-day expedition through the Yukon, Alaska, and the Northwest Territories, which included Tuktoyaktuk, without encountering any significant obstacles. The distance covered was 10,176 kilometers or about 6,323 miles, with the unfortunate occurrence of a damaged windshield.

Manifold refinishing and repairs for the M156 engine

I'm a huge fan of yours but I've been unable to fix my broken brake booster because I can't figure out how to disconnect the intake side fitting. -
Manifold refinishing and repairs for the M156 engine
TechWhiz replied to developer's topic in General Discussions
My previous mechanic broke the brake booster fitting that was attached to the manifold, and the vacuum line clip going in on the back of my manifold, just under the PCV valve, is snapped. Since the fitting needs to be removed to paint, I'm hoping you can help me figure out how to remove and replace it. I called Mercedes and they said I had to buy the whole manifold instead of just the part I needed. I have a spare entire manifold with the fittings in fine condition, but I'm afraid to remove them since I can't see a clear method to do so. Mate, if you can assist, I'd be pleased to pay you some money because I value and appreciate generosity. The Aussies... -

What kind of data should be included on highway signs?
TechWhiz replied to John278's topic in General Discussions
Gafferjim is a guy on PH who detailed the process of adding incident-specific messages and how the system works (or doesn't). This seems to have quite a bit, however it is somewhat lengthy: Here's the link: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic... mid=259361 I suppose they have some utility now and then for things like animals, people, or rubbish on the road, but they have a lot of untapped potential. The 'stay left' information is useful but underutilized in the effort to raise driving standards. Rather of relying on a narrow selection of committee-approved statements, adding more freeform content would be a good first step.
