Nothing's happened yet It makes a rattling sound between 1 and 1500 rpm while cold, but disappears after the engine is warmed up.

My 2013 520d msport automatic is fully loaded. I was quoted £1800 to replace the timing chain on my 13-year-old vehicle; should I bother with the repair, or sell the car for what it's worth in Scotland?

My belief in "Animism" leads me to assert that in addition to having their own spirit, inanimate items are just as real as living things and locations. All the more so with automobiles. I can say with confidence that if you take good care of, maintain, and clean your automobile, it will reward you with many happy years together. Too often have I seen automobiles I lusted over but could never afford rotting away in scrap yards because their owners were unable to care for them properly. And it has always bothered me that those who could afford to acquire things often did not treat them with the same level of care. On the other hand, I can't help but respect the drivers of vintage convertibles and coupés who brave the dry summer highways. Vehicles that have been out of production for decades but are nonetheless meticulously maintained are a credit to their owners.

I, too, was confused by Number 5 (m25). Fast-lane, 40-mph autonomous driving 😐

Many thanks to everyone who assisted me with my current predicament about wheels of varying sizes. A solution has been found in this matter as a result of the efforts of a skilled dealer. The gentleman working at Mercland, Jay, is a true gem. Who else do you know who would assist me over the course of the next three years after I acquired the automobile from him? Jay came upon a pair of 17-inch AMG wheels that had just been powder coated and included very decent tyres. He offered to sell them to me at a very attractive price, as seen in the picture below. I was concerned that the arches would seem less full with the decrease of one inch, but that was not the case at all. Also, a huge thank you to Mick at F&M powder coating in Preston, who put up with all of the difficulty and effectively lost money as a result of the situation. I strongly recommend that you get in touch with them if you are located anywhere around Preston and need work to be done on your wheels. One more question: given that the wheels are now 17 inches rather than 18 inches, how do I determine the appropriate pressure for the tyres? This forum is fantastic!

DOT inspectors routinely verify the work of MOT inspectors. Their certification may be revoked if they are determined to be delinquent in their role as an assessor. Think for a second that they would put their credibility and financial stability at risk for anything so stupid? -
The pleasure is all mine.😎

At least that's what I've been told; personally, I find turning off the keyless entry system in the vehicle to be more convenient. Since my Tiguan won't open while I'm in close proximity, I always do this before locking it up for the night. Temporarily disabling keyless entry is as simple as locking the vehicle with the key fob and then touching the door handle as if you were locking it keylessly within 5 seconds (I guess). If you have your mirrors set to fold on lock, I've found the easiest way to activate them is to touch the door handle while they're folding; this causes a little pause during which the dangers will flash, and then the mirrors will fold to their final position. It's helpful to know there's a backup system in addition to the keyless, disarmed one mentioned above, since there is no easy method to verify its actual functionality with the sleeping keys.

When I first got my Tiguan, I was a little nervous, but now I have very few problems with it. Wireless Apple car play has worked perfectly and is a great way to dictate and read SMS and WhatsApp texts on the go. I prefer the built-in VW satnav to Apple Maps or Google Maps because the live traffic is shown in bright colours that are easy to see while driving. When a route is being navigated, the route is white, but it has blue borders on each side of the road, so it's easy to follow. However, I'm not sure if the blue border has anything to do with the colour I'm using for ambient lighting, which is blue, since the out-of-the-box colour on my car was white. I could be wrong, but it's possible if you're only seeing white route markings. The only thing that bothers me about the built-in satnav is that sometimes it starts right away when I press the start button, but most of the time I have to wait. I don't know why it starts right away sometimes and not others, no matter how long the car has been off. Another problem is that it doesn't keep the last zoom level that was used. At first, I missed the good old SD card that I had in my KIA and previous Golf 7, but I haven't had any problems with the USB-C connections. In fact, I use both ports with one memory stick for regular pop music and one for classical music because my wife prefers pop music, and it's easy to switch between the two. No matter how long it's been since I drove the car, the stick has never moved. They were put up four months ago and haven't been touched since. They are in odd places, but I only have to do it once. I think ACC is like Marmite: some people love it and some people hate it. It was my biggest worry before I bought this car, but after playing with it for a few weeks, I've come to love it. It's not perfect by any means, and I don't use it as much as I should because it seems to have a lot of wrong speed limits around towns. That, and it puts on the brakes in a 50 mph zone when it sees a 10 mph limit sign in a hotel parking lot just off to the side that I just drove by. The good news is that they don't happen very often, and I know where they will happen because they happen every time I drive by these places. This isn't helpful on roads I don't know, though. For me, it really shines when I'm stuck in city traffic or behind a slow coach and can't pass. I just press the RES button and let whatever is in front of me do all the driving and looking out for danger. I can relax a little, put my feet up on the dash, get a glass of brandy, light a cigar, and get forty winks. No, folks, it's not, but it's less stressful than slamming on the gas and stops while waiting for a place to pass that never seems to come. BTW, stopping your car when someone cuts you off is called the "safe braking distance" and should be practised even in a car without ACC. I have never had a problem with my keyless entry, but I do turn it off every night before I go to bed to avoid the small chance that someone could use a relay attack to steal my car. Now, based on what I've said here, you might think that this is my dream car. It's almost perfect, but I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the touch controls on the steering wheel and climate control unit. It's the one thing I and a lot of other people don't like about the car. I've gotten used to it, and it works pretty well for me, but I still prefer real keys. Oh, I just saw that you have an Elegance. The steering wheel rule doesn't apply to you, but I think the CC rule still does.

Honestly, at 72,000 miles, I'd be looking at a new (and full) TC kit and probably new valve stem seals and a new rocker cover gasket at the very least. For pollution, these cars run very, very hot, which cooks the seals. To look at necessary and desired cam views, you would need a good scan tool. @TechWhiz is our resident expert on engine rebuilding, and he suggests starting with the basics to find the cause of the misfire/emissions. They could drop a valve seat if they got too hot, or there could be so much gunk on the valve from burning oil (which would explain why the Cat and O2 sensors are broken) that the valve doesn't sit right. You could use a boroscope or a smoke tester to see if any smoke is coming out of the spark plug hole. Both cylinders 1 and 2 fire close to each other, so a stretched TC could cause either. If you take off the rocker cover and physically turn the engine so that the flat on the exhaust cam is horizontal, the same flat on the inlet cam should also be horizontal. I don't think it is, but you should check. Does the engine have any oil or water leaks? These would also need to be dealt with right away. Just my two cents, since Tech has a lot of experience with these things and can give you much better advice.

Metalastic bushes, as far as I can tell, are meant to be screwed down securely, with the rubber bushing taking care of the wiggle room. To avoid "pre-loading" the bush, it is recommended to not completely tighten fasteners until after the vehicle has been returned to its usual driving position. When using poly bushes with a metal sleeve, the tube must be tightened such that the bush spins on the sleeve and not the bolt. To prevent the bush from being clamped when the bolt is tightened, the sleeve should be a millimetre or two broader than the bush. I suppose I just always did that.

This is a huge undertaking; best of luck!

Mineral fluids dot 3, 4, and 5.1 are all considered to be "improving" grades. Because Dot 5 is based on silicone, its improper application will result in the destruction of rubber seals found throughout a hydraulic system.

My acquaintance in South Cheshire did an excellent job reupholstering my Firenza seat with old material from a rear seat because the cloth is unavailable.
