  1. Past hour
  2. In my opinion, the availability of parts is an issue that has been there for some time and is just becoming worse. I recently sold my 2009 CLK and the convertible top sensor was not available.
  3. Replacing the accumulators and servicing the ABC/SBC won't break the bank, but fixing an accumulator's diaphragm that splits and releases debris into the system will cost a pretty penny. Since there is no official MB WIS for changing the hydraulic fluid, the roof "service" essentially consists of cleaning and lubricating the seals, which can be accomplished by anyone with a little bit of internet research. The M113 engine is indeed "bullet proof." The one in my C55 is still running strong after 154+K miles of use.
  4. Yes, I suppose the AMG elements will be more expensive.
  5. R230, I assume, is the generation in question. The Mercedes-Benz with its innovative but costly to repair and maintain ABC suspension, hydraulic roof, etc., is just as likely, if not more so, than the Porsche to rack up thousands of pounds in repairs and maintenance costs. Of course, you might not be experiencing any issues at all; after all, you could be relying solely on the stories you read about in online forums. Plus, the m113 engine is both innovative and somewhat resistant to damage.
  6. Would the operating costs be significantly different for a Mercedes SL500 or SL55 AMG? I'm considering making a purchase. I'm currently in the market for a second E46 M3 manual that hasn't been raced around Bradford, Birmingham, Bury, or Blackburn, and I'm willing to spend up to 20,000 GBP on it. I'm not afraid of the astronomical repair bills that come with my 2003 911, though. Any suggestions? certainly less agro as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My sincere appreciation, everyone
  7. Thanks for getting back to me; I find that intriguing.
  8. Understood. 😀 My independent contractor can update the online service history because he is registered with JLR. Without specifically asking, I assume this is a prerequisite for warranty work.
  9. You can see an independent... under the JLR warranty!?
  10. I've used the LR Extended Warranty and MoT warranty for a couple repairs, and I'll keep buying them because they seem to cover everything, and my go-to independent LR garage has no problems working with them. After my Evoque is 10 years old (or 100,000 miles), I will only go to a third party provider because LR will no longer offer coverage.
  11. Greetings everyone, I have 44,000 miles on my 2021 Range Rover Evoque P300e and I would like some guidance on extended warranties. I called Land Rover Extended Warranty and was informed that a JLR multi-point examination would be necessary for the vehicle because it was not continually covered by a manufacturer-backed warranty when I purchased it. The next step is to determine if the vehicle is eligible for the Land Rover extended warranty. I would like to know, from the experience of other Evoque owners who have filed claims, which warranty companies are the best before I make a final decision. Is there anyone here who has had claims settled using: Extended Warranty for Land Rovers Simple Motor Membership in AA, RAC, and Warrantywise A different service provider In particular, I would like to know how the hybrid/P300e cars fared in terms of claims processing and ease of payment. Thank you ahead of time.
  12. Yesterday
  13. It begins shortly before the one-second mark of the video and sounds nearly like a belt slipping.
  14. Nothing but a loud "pop/click" could be audible when I played the audio back at maximum volume on my PC. Just wanted to clarify that I would love to hear the sound you describe. If it were knocking from low-grade petrol, I wouldn't hear it like you're describing it; it would be more regular and repetitive. Your description seems to indicate that the turbo charger might be ramping up at that time. Maybe the turbo's heat shield is flexing.
  15. Just before the pop manipulates my phone, a sound happens. From inside, with the windows down, I videotaped it. Even when travelling at high speeds on the highway, you can hear it through closed windows. It could be spark knock, according to someone on Reddit... Hopefully not, because I exclusively use premium fuel.
  16. I hear more of a "pop/click" than a metallic chirping sound, and while I find that intriguing, I have no clue what that means. How did you manage to get the audio recording given the circumstances in which the noise is said to occur? I thought you were leaning out the window of the car!
  17. As of 05/24, I own a 25 CX-70 Turbo S Premium. I hear a metallic chirping sound emanating from the engine compartment whenever I accelerate, whether by downshifting or holding a gear, and this only happens when the engine is completely warmed up (the temperature indicator won't go higher than one tick below half). Even when the temperature is only slightly below full, it remains silent while in park or neutral. This noise is reminiscent of the wastegate rattle. Is anyone able to guess what it might be? This doesn't seem to be a problem with the gearbox, heat shield, or drivetrain; it occurs exclusively in gear, under load, during acceleration, and when the engine is well warmed up. This is a recording of spoken words. Also, I haven't noticed any smoke or leaks, but every three to four thousand miles, I seem to drain nearly a gallon of oil.
  18. I am hoping to get it to one of the Indi that I have contacted.

  20. This is just one more reason why you shouldn't use the start-stop feature on these engines; it could be related to the chain.
  21. Are you okay? Perhaps you are in the vicinity of a Merc Indi.
  22. A star session could be the next best thing for an injector that's about to go out of business.
  23. Greetings, everyone! Might mean a lot of things, but it's not really clear. My 2013 Mercedes C220 CDI AMG line with an OM651 engine has covered 167k miles with the sole problem of a split turbo pipe. Has received routine maintenance and, up until this point, has performed admirably, pulling and driving like new. For your information, an ECU remap was performed on it approximately nine years ago. I can attach a video if needed; I only noticed a loud engine sound and haven't driven since. The car is trembling slightly, the knock is audible, and it idles less than ideal. On rare occurrences, the knocking stops, and the engine starts up normally; nevertheless, on occasion, it starts up again. The question now is, is it worth repairing because it's an injector knock, is it worth it because it's a bottom end knock, or is it something else entirely? I'm trying to get an appointment with a Mercedes specialist to diagnose it, but it's taking longer than expected because most of them are booked up weeks in advance. Icarsoft does not display any error codes, and the engine light is not on, by the way.

  25. The great unwashed have considerably easier access than ever before to get up close and personal with supercars these days, so it's definitely personal. Nick, his wife, and their beloved Ferrari were a sight to behold at the former residence of Queen Camilla. Describe myself as "old fashioned."
  26. Indeed, I am concerned that once he departs, the 1962 250 GTO (which was recently valued at approximately £50 million) will no longer be visible to the public and will most certainly not be placed on someone's lawn so that the general public can examine it closely, just like I was able to do a few years ago.
