developer
How difficult would it be to replace the positive terminal, since it does not secure to the battery and is causing battery depletion?

Rashman4u
Determine the availability of the service component within the parts network and make necessary adjustments. In the worst-case scenario, it may be necessary to purchase a cable assembly or construct a replacement using components from a parts shop. Paulinelinker
Introduce solder between the post and clamp to eliminate the slack. Melting is unnecessary. A little roll of plumber's solder is available at a hardware shop.
Matt865
The battery terminals are conical. Ensure that the terminal is positioned at the widest section of the post; otherwise, it will not achieve complete tightness. Occasionally, it is necessary to loosen the terminal nut and slightly open the terminal to enable it to descend completely down the post. Matt865
A superior option involves cutting a piece of metal from a discarded beverage or soup can to use as a shim for the battery post. Adjust the strip's width to match the height of the battery post. Adjust the length to accommodate the space required between the post and the terminal. Rashman4u
The issue is that different metals will result in corrosion. Aluminium develops a very resistant oxide coating. Lead-based solder exhibits optimal compatibility with the post and clamp. The shim referenced by John2.0T is an effective solution; it is composed of lead. I use solder due of its constant availability, since I am a circuitsmith.
Alex1978
Consider use a battery post shim to eliminate the excess play.

developer
I have changed the battery and alternator, nevertheless the vehicle stalls when I activate the lights; the screw shifts with the inner component of the terminal. Rashman4u
Indeed. Does this terminal have the traditional design with a nut at the top and an interior section including prongs? If that is the case, then replace that item. Substitute it with a conventional clamp-type terminal available at the local parts shop. I am certain that the cable is only attached to the original connector with a nut. Consequently, it is simple to substitute. You need a new terminal with a comparable M6 stud and nut attachment. Something like to this... Edited November 26, 2024 by Rashman4u

CheresX
I removed the inferior original components and replaced them with heavy-duty ones from a nearby tractor and farm supply shop. €4 for two clamps and a few more 4mm bolts for the CB and 120W LED high beam.
