spiezen
Hello, I just purchased a 2024 Mazda CX90 Premium. After registering the vehicle at the DMV and verifying the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), it was determined that it falls within the hybrid category. I clarified to them that it is not powered by any other means but petrol. However, they continue to demand. I contacted the dealer about it gave us the documents like the car specifications catalogue you put in the window and sent it to DMV but still they denied my dispute. I also reached out to Mazda USA about my worry, and even they confirmed that the provided paperwork would be sufficient. I am unable to financially accommodate an additional $117 charge during each renewal period for a hybrid classification, despite the fact that my unit does not possess this feature. I am doing a crowd search on this website to find others who may have encountered a similar scenario as I have. I would really appreciate any advise or assistance you can provide on how to handle it. Thank you beforehand!
Rashman4u
Essentially, it is a vehicle that combines the features of two different types. The electric hybrid motor is positioned between the engine and gearbox and provides assistance in delivering power intermittently. To see the energy flow while driving, go to the "Information" section and choose "Fuel Efficiency." From there, access the "Energy Flow Monitor." The double arrows indicate the flow of energy from both the gas and electric sources. Additionally, it is included on the window sticker. spiezen
Thank you for responding to me. Fortunately, you own a comprehensive inventory of your unit. This is the only thing I get. Is there a discernible difference in the mechanical and electrical specifications between the Premium and Premium Plus models? Because the one I now own is simply the Premium trim level. spiezen
Thank you for providing this information. Essentially, the premium trim level falls inside the hybrid category. Therefore, I just need to address the additional funds that I will be required to provide.
spiezen
I am grateful for the replies. I must accept and address the fact that the trim level of my vehicle is a mild hybrid Premium, and I will adhere to the information recorded in the DMV system. I must confront the additional payment of $117 during the renewal or re-registration process.
Matt865
The Spec Deck (PDF) provides a tabular format that lists the variations in features offered in all models and trim packages.

WiseSage
Many individuals are unaware of the significant distinctions shown by the CX-90. The powertrain incorporates a combustion engine fueled by petrol, although all variants are also equipped with an electric motor and battery. Regarding the basic 6 cylinder and Turbo S models, they both consist of an electric motor and a tiny battery known as a mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV). On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid variant is equipped with a 4 cylinder engine, a larger electric motor, and a bigger battery, referred to as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Indeed, all CX-90 models are equipped with hybrid technology. I don't get why there is an additional cost for owning a hybrid vehicle. It seems logical that the price should be lower instead. 😢 Premium, in this context, refers to a certain trim level of a vehicle and does not have any impact on the available powertrain options. ianwh4
Certain states impose an extra fee to compensate for the decrease in "gas tax" income caused by electric cars. The roads and infrastructure need maintenance, and the necessary funding must be sourced. Most states that implemented it simply offered incentives for electric automobiles. It is regrettable that your state imposes tags even on non I can see the rationale behind it for fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles
TDudette
I am curious whether the T6 would qualify as a hybrid vehicle for the purpose of using the HOV lane. Has anybody investigated that?
