jennycarlotta
Good day, everybody! The scenario is odd. I saw a BMW 318d ad while looking for a decent first car for my son. The pricing was amazing, almost too good to be true! After some research, it's Newtownards Transport in Belfast, not a private vendor. They may be flipping auction-returned cars. They're prepared to deliver it to my Bristol porch, which is fortunate, but I can't see paying before seeing it. Has anybody in this area seen these or similar outfits? Not willing to spend a lot for a hard knock.
Mistral
I've never come across Newtownards Transport specifically but there are plenty of these companies popping up like mushrooms after the rain these days. Repaired cars might not break the bank, but it all boils down to what you're getting in return. While some shine like a penny, others have clearly been left out in the cold. First things first, I’d like to get to the bottom of why it’s priced way below the going rate.
WordSmith
Certainly not! It is imperative that you go and inspect it. I comprehend the challenge but I would find it challenging to get an car without first inspecting it in person.
jennycarlotta
That's the catch, really getting to Belfast isn't exactly a walk in the park Although they assured me that I may see it upon arrival, I can't help but feel like I'm paying for the cart before the horse
br1anuk
I dealt with Newtownards Transport around a month ago and bought a Peugeot 3008 from them. Just like you I didn't know what to think at first about what was going on. I called them a lot to find out what was going on. But they were very clear about how the payment would work: the money would be put into a separate company account and would not be released until I got the car and checked everything over for 14 days. At first, the payment was stopped by my bank, which worried me. I had to call them to make sure it was really me. The car finally showed up about seven days later, and it was cleaner than I thought it would be.
jennycarlotta
Thank you for that. So, you put your money where your mouth is before the car arrive at your house, right? That is the thorn in my side that continues to bother me.
br1anuk
I thought about it before I did it but I looked up their business information and found a few online references to Newtownards Transport. Nothing that made me suspicious. It felt a little safer with the separate account and it's still a bit of a leap of faith!!!
keithmerc220
I acquired an LR disco 4 luxury from Newtownards Transport and they were quite simple to work with, have provided a copy of the v5, sent the invoice and explaining how the money is stored. The entire transaction took just under two weeks from initial contact to delivery and a few days to check it with my mechanic to get it approved
AMG33D
I’ll be honest I still don’t like the idea of buying a car unseen. Not saying anything about them specifically but in general it’s always a bit of a gamble Photos can hide a lot
keithmerc220
Yeah that’s fair I just made sure I checked everything properly when it arrived before confirming anything
dave783
I’ve seen a few of these companies pop up recently as long as the payment is actually held somewhere secure and not going straight to them it’s a bit different than just wiring money Still, I’d double check everything like others said
jennycarlotta
Appreciate all the replies Spoke to them again earlier and they’ve now sent over the deposit invoice plus some more photos and details Feeling a bit more reassured now compared to yesterday
