Smart key fob not detected.

While shopping today, I returned to my vehicle and pressed the start button, only to receive a message indicating that no key was detected. After several attempts, a new message prompted me to press the start button with the key fob. I complied, and the car started. Upon arriving home, I checked to see if the issue persisted, but everything returned to normal. I also verified that the key fob battery was fully charged at 3.1V. Any suggestions?

I would still replace the batteries, since it may drop below an acceptable level under stress, despite indicating 3.1V. A depleted key fob battery may exhibit issues such as these.

Thank you all for the information. New Duracell batteries have been installed in both keys, and extra ones are also in the vehicle.Thank to everybody.

Competent branded battery. Others are known to provide inadequate power and possess a limited lifespan.

Concur with others; replace the battery with a reputable brand.
My CEED exhibits same behaviour, with erratic warnings gradually increasing in frequency until the battery is changed.

I consistently replace my key fob batteries at servicing appointments; the expense is little and easily recalled as it is noted on the calendar (other memory aids are available). I use Varta, which has shown reliability so far. They also installed the doorbell, which I did concurrently.

It is prudent to have a spare battery in the vehicle as a precaution against potential failure when away from home.

My dealer previously replaced these at no cost in both fobs during service appointments, but they have ceased this practice and now impose a fee upon request. I replace them annually during servicing and, like others, only use high-quality branded batteries.

Maintain fresh batteries in the keys and annually alternate with the spare key to avoid loss of programming, since reprogramming at the dealership may be costly.

The only instance of failure among our vehicles occurred with our girls' Picanto, which happened after five years.

In the event of battery failure. Simply place the fob on the stop/start button to activate it. Subsequently, you may acquire a new battery. Since they are standard and widely available...
