BMW - Suspected Arson - Seeking Advice
DSM10000 replied to cumblechook22's topic in General Discussions
After reviewing the policy online, I have found no restrictions regarding arson, unless you are the primary suspect. Since the dealership and your policy are both with BMW, I recommend contacting them directly to get a comprehensive explanation for their refusal to cover your claim. BMW flex Insurance is provided by LV and they may be contacted if necessary. If all other attempts prove unsuccessful, you have the option to file a complaint with the Insurance Ombudsman. I have included a PDF file that displays the pertinent pages extracted from the policy paper. -

You should be protected by the dealership's own insurance since they were responsible for the automobile. -

I am still experiencing a misfire with my vehicle.

Valve seats may get detached in naturally aspirated (NA) engines. This may be verified by doing a test, since it has a very distinctive attribute. Typically, the misfire becomes noticeable while the engine is running at its normal temperature and is not under load. When the camshaft sensor is removed, the ECU switches to safe mode, which disables the variable valve lift. This prevents the valves from making contact with the valve seats, ensuring a tight seal and preventing any leaks. However, if you continue to use it in that manner for an extended period of time, the seats will finally detach. -
How were you able to locate it?

I have renewed my insurance policy with Privilege, and there has been a little rise in the premium amount. Worth experimenting with, considering the possibilities.

My Mercedes from Poole caused my MOT to fail.

I believe that repairs are not recorded in the Digital Service Book (DSB) in any case. That is to say, just maintenance is provided. If all the services are performed exclusively at the dealership, the location of repairs does not affect the service history. Indeed, every MB Service History printout I have seen only includes Services A and B, without any further information. -

See if they go off after 30 seconds 🤔 if you try setting it. -

Do you have a look at the menu? You should be able to adjust the duration that the headlights remain on when the ignition is turned off. -
Most likely under a leasing agreement.

Furthermore, the data indicates a speed of 71mph, which exceeds the legally permitted limit. It would have been more desirable if the speed had been 70mph or lower. -
Is it advisable to remap my Mercedes E-Class E280 W211?
DSM10000 replied to keithmerc220's topic in General Discussions
Was the MPG improvement shown on the dashboard determined accurately by comparing the fuel consumption from one full tank to another? I have used many diesel engine remapping systems and tuning devices. I have not seen any tangible increase in fuel efficiency in any of them, despite the assertions made. However, on many occasions, the dashboard display has shown a higher miles per gallon (mpg) figure. I fail to see any logical explanation for the potential improvement in fuel efficiency, unless there are modifications made to the hardware, particularly if the additional power is used. I assume that GAD is installed on a dynamometer for testing purposes. If not, then it is a generic map. -
Yes, I also incur garage labour rates owing to overhead expenses. However, charging 2.9k for a manifold and EGR is an exorbitant amount. Without examining the pricing of individual parts, I would estimate that I would not charge anybody more than one-third of the total amount.

It seems that they are resorting to desperate measures. I would recommend taking the automobile to a specialised facility with expertise in these vehicles, equipped with appropriate diagnostic tools and skilled technicians. If you want to keep it there, it is likely that you will get a substantial invoice.

Apologies if this is not the appropriate forum, but my friend's 2010 E350(?) convertible is unable to retract its roof. The device is completely non-functional, with no audible or tactile response. Is it possible that the issue is as simple as a blown fuse? Which location should I inspect to verify and identify the specific fuse?
