  1. The process of ageing and cognitive decline Apologies, but I had a similar issue last year. I had an incorrect alternator on my vehicle, but I am unable to recall the codes. Which alternator did you replace?
  2. I chose to reinstall the original EGR valve and successfully replaced it without experiencing the coolant leak that occurred in earlier tries. Unable to locate the proposed pipe by BlackC55, I cleared the 14CF00 code and took the vehicle for a spin. The car performed well with no warning lights, showing a considerable improvement from its former condition. After checking my code reader and finding no codes, I drove for about half an hour. The car started reverting to its previous state, feeling like the brakes were being applied intermittently. This made driving uncomfortable and challenging. The car seemed fine for a while but then started jerking several times before I reached home. When inspecting the code reader, no 14CF00 code or warning light was found, indicating a possible issue with the ERG system. It seems that the actuator code is not visible and may need removal for identification, which may be inconvenient. That's my update, making a little advancement.Cheers
  3. I appreciate the information and guidance. The EGR is a refurbished Wahler part. The second part of your reply is beyond my current knowledge. I am unsure of the location of the EGR pipe in the front or the throttle flap. I will examine the pipes tomorrow during daylight to see if I can understand them and determine if it is something I can attempt. Thank you
  4. When replacing the batwing yesterday, I heard a faint but regular beeping noise in the engine. The noise was not loud and could not be heard inside the car. It sounded like an alarm going off repeatedly. I couldn't pinpoint its exact source. It's possible that something is unplugged.
  5. I borrowed the batwing loaner from a vehicle of comparable age. However, after initially improving, it eventually started surging and bucking again. It was worth attempting and it has eliminated a possibility, which is beneficial. Thank you.
  6. Hello, Thank you for your response. I apologise for not having clearer images. The wire/plug was hidden under the wiring harness in the photo (shiny black). I had to carefully extract it. I was hoping this would be a definitive solution, but after thoroughly searching the area, I couldn't locate where it should be connected. I assumed it was for a feature my car doesn't have. The batwing has two Maf plugs and an orange pipe plug, with no additional sockets. The plug was situated under the batwing.
  7. That seems like a good idea. I cleaned the mass airflow sensors and will now attempt to find a replacement actuator. Thank you for your reply.
  8. Since my previous visit to the forum, my vehicle has been problematic. It had to go back to the mechanic for swirl flaps replacement, which was rather costly. Although the car initially performed well after this, issues like juddering, surging at low rpm, and poor pick-up have resurfaced. The EGR was replaced, and the vehicle functioned adequately, but not exceptionally, for a few days. The code 14CF00 sometimes appears on my reader, causing the vehicle to enter limp mode and trigger a warning light. I have visually inspected for damaged wires and tested by gently tugging on them. Since I am not getting a spark, I am proceeding with a trial and error approach. I have tested another exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) component as a precaution, but had the same outcome. Today, I cleaned the turbo actuator cover, which seemed to be in good condition. I used contact cleaner to clean it and applied a little amount of high-temperature oil to the gears. After test driving the vehicle and feeling thrilled about its improved performance, I noticed that upon my return the surging and bucking issues resurfaced, with the sole diagnostic trouble code appearing as 14CF00. Is it worthwhile to experiment with a new actuator? Could this code be responsible for the irritating surges and bucking at low engine speeds? I am unsure of what to do next. I have attempted all possible solutions within my means. I cannot afford the expensive swirl flap replacement at the garage, so replacing the actuator seems to be my last option for repair. I have included images of the actuator and a blue plug that seemed to be unconnected, which is a little worrisome, but it may be intended for a feature that my vehicle lacks. Any suggestion is always welcomed. Thank you.
  9. Google can provide assistance in that matter, I presume...
  10. Greetings, everyone. Due to the depletion of my battery, I was compelled to purchase a replacement battery from Halfords and subsequently fitted it. The vehicle is functioning OK, but, I am now receiving a notice on the display indicating a failure with the auxiliary battery. At Halfords, I spoke with the technician about the situation, and he said, "Yes, this occurrence is common when a new battery is installed after the previous battery has been depleted." To resolve the issue, just increase the use of the vehicle by driving it more often with the newly installed battery. However, I continue to get the same message indicating a failure with the auxiliary battery. What are the possible solutions to this problem without incurring more expenses? Do you have any recommendations?
  11. Indeed, the facelift E500 has a noticeable creeping motion. Similarly to the pre-facelift S211 E500, the S212 E500, S500L, and so forth. This is a conventional automatic transmission function specifically intended for contemporary driving. To prevent the creeping motion, just apply strong pressure on the footbrake, which will maintain the stationary position until the accelerator is pressed once again. Apologies, but I am unable to comprehend the reason for the lack of progress in your situation. This query should be sent to an expert in the field of independent or gearbox mechanics.
  12. Alternatively, allowing WD40 to penetrate for a short period of time
  13. To effectively eliminate the little black tar spots on the wheel, you may consider acquiring glue and tar remover (GTR). Alternatively, if these black spots are not tar but rather baked-on brake debris, a reliable alloy wheel cleaner capable of changing colour and removing rust/iron oxide would be suitable. The latter often exhibits a purple hue and undergoes a transformation to a vibrant red shade when exposed to iron oxide, resulting in its dissolution.
  14. One of what, precisely? I do not see any illustrative instance in your text.
  15. This material is very commendable and is expected to result in several satisfying driving experiences.
  16. This development is quite positive. It seems that you have not before encountered the concept of DAB. If it is agreeable to the individual, it would be appreciated if a visual representation, such as a photograph, could be provided.
  17. It seems plausible that the filter in question is associated with the year 2020, as indicated by the presence of the number 20 at the start. The filter in question has the designation "201105" and underwent modification in the year 2021. It is evident that the first two digits serve as indicators of the year.
  18. The GLC is equipped with a 2-liter petrol engine. My vehicle, manufactured in 2021, has accumulated around 4500 kilometres. I have only accessed the oil level information via the display on two occasions. Although I cannot recall the specific reading, I am certain that the car's system will provide a notification if the oil level becomes critically low.
  19. The standard 740 model is equipped with tires of size 245/50R18. Fancy hotels choose for the BMW 740 model to accommodate their clientele, consistently specifying the recommended tire size due to its advantageous attributes. When the 7 series is tested with the specified factory pressure specifications, it offers an exceptional level of comfort throughout the ride. The assertion is not that individuals are required to alter their tires and wheels, but rather that recognizing the significance of tire pressure and size will foster an understanding of the exceptional ride comfort that the 7 series offers. The vehicle in question was a 1995 BMW equipped with 235/60R16 tires, which provided a quite satisfactory riding experience. Contemporary bigger wheels have enhanced aesthetic appeal and improved handling characteristics; yet, they compromise the formerly seamless ride quality.
  20. Individual experiences vary, but, this is the approach I would use. Prior to exchanging tires, it is advisable to check the tire pressure and adjust it to the manufacturer's recommended specifications. If the noise level and tone of their speech continue to be excessively loud and abrasive, it may be advisable to decrease the volume by one level. It is important to note that the wheel size for the basic 7 series is 18 inches, as opposed to 19 inches or 20 inches. I have just acquired a set of 7 series base wheels for installation on my 640 GT vehicle, resulting in a noticeably smooth and noiseless riding experience. After experiencing a wheel fracture of 19 inches, I attended this event and have not had any more issues. These automobiles exhibit exceptional qualities and may need some time to align with one's specific requirements.
  21. The proposition seems to be rather satisfactory, since I have come across individuals who have cited quotations reaching high four-digit numbers from dealers.
  22. The possible inference that may be drawn from the non-functioning reach adjustment is that there may be a cause other than jammed gears. Additionally, it is worth considering if you also perceive an audible click while attempting to engage the reach adjustment. One individual who provided assistance on my discussion thread proposed the notion that by removing certain trim components, it is possible to access the worm gear, which can then be greased. my is a task I intend to do in the future. Although my advise pertains specifically to a W205 C class vehicle, I think that the process would not change much for your particular automobile.
  23. It seems that you are encountering a similar issue to the one I previously had (which I have already resolved). The tilting mechanism ceased to function properly while attempting to make adjustments, producing a similar audible 'click' sound. However, the reach adjustment feature remained unaffected. Rather of forcefully striking the wheel, a method I found undesirable, I opted to apply pressure by leveraging my body weight while simultaneously using the downward adjustment lever. This action successfully disengaged the column/motor components. If the clicking sound is audible, it is reasonable to infer that the issue is not with the motor power, but rather with the motor or gear being obstructed at its maximum position, similar to the situation I encountered (assuming that convenience entry/exit is enabled on your specific model).
