Paulinelinker
Greetings, gentlemen. I acquired a 2017 330e. I am like it so far, however I am enquiring about the procedure for updating iDrive. Each Google search directs me to the BMW website for file downloads; however, I cannot locate any option to verify whether an update is necessary or where to get the files. I have a linked drive in the system, but it indicates that it is no longer operational, and I cannot locate any option in the vehicle for an over-the-air upgrade. The maps are from 2017, and I have encountered information indicating that the software I am using is outdated and that fresh upgrades are available. Can somebody provide clarification on this matter?
Howard_silver
I am uncertain about the iDrive version you own; nonetheless, for satellite navigation updates, please attempt the complimentary downloads available on

Alex1978
It is uncertain, but is a subscription required to maintain updates?
Paulinelinker
I have purchased a map, so at least the satellite navigation is arranged. I believe the attached drive is intended to provide upgrades using over-the-air (OTA) technology; however, it has now been disabled for this model year. I will take it to BMW shortly for a recall and request an update, hoping they do not impose a price for the service. Thank you, gentlemen. Alex1978
I hope for a favourable outcome for you. BMW would impose an admission fee for the showroom if they believed it would be feasible.
