jimmy47785
Greetings, Audi A5 Fastback, two headlamp pods. Their contemporary design makes accessing the bulbs difficult. Last winter, the illumination was like to that of two candles. I want more intense lighting. Many claim that our H7 surpasses Joe Bloggs' H7, akin to shampoo advertisements. Should I continue using H7 OSRAMs, as suggested? Upgrade LED? Has anybody really undertaken this trade and spoken from experience? I contacted my local AUDI dealer, who only provides OE parts but often receives enquiries about this "issue." I comprehend the different sorts of bulbs. WordSmith
The Facelift B8 A5 may be equipped with either halogen (PR-8BD) or HID/xenon (PR-8BP) headlamp assemblies; if the discussion is to changing or upgrading the H7 bulb, then halogen assemblies are applicable. Several aspects to verify prior to attempting to "upgrade" the chosen Osram H7 bulbs: Utilise VCDS, OBDeleven, or a comparable tool to scan the vehicle for fault codes in Address 09 (CECM/BCM) that may pertain to the headlamp output voltage. Examine the extensive coding of the CECM/BCM to verify that the headlamp "dipped beam" is functioning at full voltage/intensity; moreover, check the vertical alignment of the low/dipped headlight. jimmy47785
Good day Thank you for your response; it is appreciated. I only want to enhance illumination on the road. Frankly, I am uncertain about the purpose of all those regulations. I question if my garage, which has been in operation for 24 years, will be knowledgeable about them. AUDI only accommodates OE bulbs, as I asked. I have operated 18 vehicles over 60 years of driving experience. Open the bonnet, remove the rubber seal, extract the bulb, and insert the new one. Task completed. Are you suggesting that the "computer" system in my Audi can determine the kind of light I receive? Replacing a 55-watt H7 bulb with a more efficient 55-watt H7 bulb is not a straightforward process, since the current draw will remain same. I find it simpler to refrain from going out in the dark. WordSmith
The Body Control Module (BCM) located under the instrument panel above the driver's footwell directly powers the headlight bulbs. Any garage servicing VAG vehicles should possess diagnostic instruments capable of interpreting fault and error codes from the many control modules in contemporary VAG automobiles. This is the first point of commencement. The vertical alignment of the dipped or low beam might influence the perceived brightness of the beam pattern in front of the vehicle; thus, ensure it is accurately adjusted. A malfunctioning headlight assembly is less probable, however it remains a possibility, particularly if it is equipped with range control and the motor or mechanism has failed. WordSmith
Consider using an LED device for the dipped/low beam; however, note that the halogen reflector was not built for an LED apparatus. Additionally, Philips seems to manufacture a road-legal H7 LED substitute. Philips Ultinon Pro6000 LED

Howard_silver
It may be advantageous to get a VCDS system for personal usage, since they are very effective.
jimmy47785
Hello. I concur; I examined them last night. There are several options, and I am contemplating which one merits acquisition. Do you have any recommendations? Additionally, it is important to recognise that there is no conclusion to this endeavour. Thank you. WordSmith
The majority of individuals get the 3-VIN licence, which provides full capability for up to three VAG vehicles. The complimentary VCDS software is licensed via the adaptor. The software operates only on Windows.
jimmy47785
I examined the Ross-Tech device. It is in the upper echelon of the price spectrum, akin to Rolls Royce. I cannot rationalise that expense. The A5 remains under a two-year extended warranty; I anticipate that most issues will be addressed. However, it will not, of course, include my illumination. I will investigate which bulbs would enhance my visibility on the road, then consult with my garage technicians. Numerous bulbs, as to selecting a shampoo. Thank you, everyone.
