IrvesBMW
I am experiencing a problem with my X5 where there is a noticeable decrease in power starting from about 2500rpm. However, when I stop the vehicle and restart it, the issue seems to be resolved. There is no error message log (EML) shown on the dashboard and no information is being shown on the diagnostics. My hypothesis is that the lack of power transfer from the small side turbo to the large turbo is due to a vacuum issue. The small side turbo is equipped with an electronic actuator, which provides initial power. However, when the power is supposed to move to the big turbo, there is no power until the engine is restarted. Currently, I am required to start the vehicle twice before driving, which may have a detrimental impact on the battery. Has anybody encountered this problem before, or am I just experiencing unfortunate circumstances? If there are no diagnostic clues, finding the cause is as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack. Assistance urgently needed.
WiseSage
I would inspect the intake and remove any accumulated soot and oil residue.

IrvesBMW
Thank you for your response. Over the weekend, I thoroughly cleaned the mentioned components, including removing the intake and swirl flaps. Nevertheless, the problem has persisted for around three months.
TDudette
What scanning method did you use, since general methods might overlook or provide deceptive results. Given that the issue is resolved by turning the device off and on, it indicates a potential electrical problem, maybe related to the turbo Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT). IrvesBMW
Thank you for your response. I had my vehicle thoroughly examined using comprehensive diagnostic procedures, since I have a buddy who is a professional mechanic. I am now experiencing issues with the turbo-related electrical system. Specifically, the problem occurs when the system is turned off and then back on again. However, when the start-stop feature is on and the vehicle pauses at a set of lights before starting again, the issue reoccurs.
TDudette
Which diagnostic method was employed? I believe that ista is the optimal toolkit for doing investigations.
CodeCrusader
Even high-quality snap-on scanners might provide inaccurate information. You must use a BMW diagnostic kit to scan it.
IrvesBMW
Thank you for your response. I believe it is necessary to scan it with ISTA, as you have suggested. Is there anybody in close proximity to Worcester who would be willing to examine it on my behalf? Thank you once again for the responses. WordSmith
Is it always remapped?
IrvesBMW
The remapping process has not been carried out yet. I intended to have it done after removing the problematic swirl flaps. However, I am aware that I need to address this issue before considering the remapping procedure. Thank you.
WordSmith
Any reputable tuner would not do mapping on a vehicle with existing flaws. If they do, they are unprofessional and inexperienced. What is your location?
