VWDaveBMW
I own a 2019 420d Gran Coupe. The car is indicating that the next service is required after covering a distance of 4,000 miles, however the MyBMW app states that the next oil change is necessary after covering a distance of 7,500 miles. The MOT is scheduled for next month. An independent performed the main service 28,000 kilometres ago, 12 months ago. In addition, I had the brake pads replaced by an independent mechanic in Croatia over the previous summer. The present distance stands at 40,000. Once the MOT has been conducted at the major dealers, I will promptly have the oil replaced without delay. I would want to inquire about the reason for the variance of 4,000 to 7,500 miles and whether this observation has been made by others. BEERMAN
The next oil change will occur after 7500 miles. The 4000 service may include a vehicle inspection, vehicle check, brake pad replacement, or brake fluid replacement.
Rashman4u
The BMW service indication is meaningless. The purpose of its design was to attract fleet purchasers by highlighting extended service intervals, with the intention of selling automobiles. If the last oil service was conducted 12 months ago, it is advisable to replace the oil. The BMW service period between 15,000 and 20,000 kilometres seems unreasonable. To ensure the longevity of your engine, it is recommended to replace the oil on a yearly basis or after about 10,000 miles. There is substantial evidence from the last decade about several instances of BMW engines experiencing worn timing chains, chain sprockets, and engine failures due to oil deterioration. KissezFun
Irrespective of the information shown, you have driven almost 12,000 km in over 12 months. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you promptly arrange for an oil and filter replacement.
IrvesBMW
If you want to retain ownership of the vehicle for an extended period, it is advisable to replace the oil and filter between 7,000 and 10,000 miles. Perform the routine maintenance, but also include additional oil and filter changes. You may accumulate lunar miles by taking care of it in this manner. VWDaveBMW
I got the oil changed earlier than planned last week. The subsequent alteration has been scheduled to occur after covering a distance of 18,000 kilometres. However, while inspecting the iDrive service history, there is no documentation of the most recent oil change. I am certain, but not absolutely certain, that it was entered, but it seems to have vanished. A local mechanic performed an oil change and updated the iDrive system in my vehicle. However, they were unable to update the key fob, which does not bother me. Is it typical for the iDrive service history to be updated without registering anything such as an oil change or brake pad replacement? Are only complete services recorded? Rashman4u
The i-drive systems I have seen do not retain information on the date and mileage of the most recent oil change, unless it is manually inputted by a dealer or via the use of the required programming device. The reset function serves the only purpose of resetting the countdown. It is advisable to have a compact notepad in the glove compartment.
