jennycarlotta
As a resident of the Midwest, I store my automobile throughout the winter season. What percentage of individuals are doing oil changes after storage, irrespective of mileage? I have accumulated around 2,000 miles since my previous alteration. I am interested in hearing the many viewpoints that exist.
dave783
Every March, I make a trip to Illinois to maintain my cars and ensure they are prepared for the next year. I engage in this activity irrespective of the distance covered.
jennycarlotta
That is the objective I am considering. This year, I want to release my R8 and I like to use new oil for the season.
Motoman
There is no issue with regularly changing the oil if you are not concerned about the cost. If one is contemplating the need of this matter, it is likely that it is not obligatory. Similar to the statement made in Raiders of the Lost Ark, "It is not the passage of time, my dear." The distance is the determining factor. Many individuals have conducted tests on high-mileage oil that has been in an engine for 1/2/3 years compared to fresh oil. The oil analysis indicates little deterioration resulting from sitting. The majority of deterioration is caused by driving. I suggest personally doing the exam to observe. Ordering a sample kit and capturing a few ounces as it exits the drain port is a straightforward process. While I now use SpeeDiagnostix, there are other choices available, such as Blackstone. It is anticipated that the oil will be in a state of near-new condition upon removal from the container. After a period of 2 years and 606 miles, I just performed an oil change on one of my other vehicles. The colour remained golden, like honey. I will get the analysis outcome within a week, nevertheless, I believe it would have been feasible for me to extend my duration by an additional year. jennycarlotta
Valuable observations; thank you. I will refrain from engaging in testing and instead opt for the alternative course of action of making a change.
WiseSage
I agree with the statement above. I once belonged to the group that required annual oil changes until I thoroughly investigated the matter. Synthetic oil does not have an expiration date; rather, it depletes over time.
Blu_Ray_UK2007
I often engage in my own activities during the spring season, while it is not connected to the act of storing it throughout the winter. I believe that storage has little impact on the oil itself for a short period of a few months.
p00rmansp0rsche
It is advisable to replace the oil prior to winter storage. Constructive video: Â
carBlacken
Annually, just before to storage. The number of miles on the oil is inconsequential; the task is accomplished. This also applies to my Porsche.
EatSuru
I purchased my automobile in August. The current distance is 1600 miles. There are currently no services available. A few months ago, I stored the automobile for the winter and want to retrieve it in April. I intended to proceed with the oil change as a service for the "break-in period over" or "car out of storage." While not essential, it is not harmful and provides me with a sense of tranquilly. CheresX
I alter my year, irrespective, for the sake of tranquilly. Given that the cost of a new engine is $50,000, I am willing to replace the oil on a yearly basis. While there is no certainty, I find it to be realistic. I own some gas-powered machinery that I am willing to abandon, but I do not own the automobile.
jennycarlotta
Indeed, the line of reasoning aligns precisely with my current situation. Thank you.
SkippyTom
An annual oil change is recommended for low mileage vehicles.
