The ride was terrible once we struck a pothole.
VWDaveBMW replied to br1anuk's topic in General Discussions
Although I lack expertise in mechanics, I can provide some broad recommendations for your particular circumstance. The impact of forcefully encountering a pothole might potentially lead to detrimental effects on the suspension and steering mechanisms of an automobile, subsequently manifesting as an unstable or vibrating driving experience. The following are potential concerns and recommended actions that may be undertaken: Suspension Damage: It is possible that the collision has caused potential harm to the suspension system of your car, including components such as shock absorbers, struts, or springs. This phenomenon may result in a turbulent experience. The steering components may have also had an impact. Inspect the steering linkage, tie rods, and control arms for any indications of impairment or deterioration. Examine the wheels and tyres for any discernible signs of damage or deformations. Instability may be induced by a wheel that is deformed or a tyre that is damaged. Bushings and wheel bearings may experience wear or damage as a result of such an incident. If deemed essential, it may be required to conduct an inspection and then replace them. Wheel Misalignment: The impact of encountering a substantial hole in the road has the potential to disrupt the alignment of your vehicle's wheels, resulting in a perceptible instability when driving. It is advisable to have a professional wheel alignment service in order to guarantee the optimal alignment of all components. It is recommended to use the services of a qualified automotive technician, such as National Truck Pro, to do a comprehensive inspection of your vehicle. The individuals possess the requisite knowledge and specialised tools necessary to detect and resolve any concealed problems. Tyre balancing refers to the distribution of weight along the circumference of a tyre. When tyres are not properly balanced, it may result in noticeable vibrations and an uncomfortable ride characterised by a jiggling sensation. It is advisable to get your tyres adjusted if necessary. The presence of a bent or damaged wheel might result in imbalances in wheel balance. It is advisable to get your wheels examined for balance. It is essential to swiftly fix the problem of driving with impaired suspension or steering components, since it poses a potential safety hazard. Seeking advice from a reliable automotive professional, such as National Truck Pro, may facilitate the acquisition of an accurate diagnostic and subsequent essential repairs. Ensuring the safety of one's vehicle should be regarded as a paramount responsibility, hence prompt attention to these problems is vital to guarantee optimal operational status. -
The aesthetic appeal of the m340i tourer is very remarkable, and I am now in the process of finalising my purchase for this vehicle within the next week.

Is the colour of the substance in question classified as oxide grey?

I had an aftermarket thermostat installed in my 330d upon initial purchase, which was done by the garage from which I bought the vehicle. However, the bolts of the thermostat became sheared within the water pump to which it was attached. Fortunately, I had already acquired a genuine thermostat, which was subsequently installed. Remarkably, the car remained in good condition for a period of five years, and the subsequent owner has continued to possess it for an additional 18 months.

ndeed! I transitioned from owning a 2018 650i GranCoupe (AWD) in Carbon Black to acquiring a 2019 M6 Gran Coupe in San Marino Blue. In my recollection, I have not engaged in the act of supplying engine oil beyond the scope of routine maintenance for my M6 during the last 30,000 km. Conversely, I have consistently found it necessary to replenish the oil levels in the 650 every 5,000 to 7,000 kilometres. 2) The comfort level of the 650 is expected to be satisfactory. However, it is worth noting that the use of runflat tyres on the 650, as opposed to Michelin PSS tyres, resulted in a comparatively smoother ride experience with the M6. It is rather surprising, however amusing, to see this difference. Nevertheless, it should be noted that adjusting the suspension setting to sport plus mode might potentially alter the aforementioned ride quality. The observed gas mileage of the M6 is comparatively superior for unspecified reasons. The M Perf Titanium exhaust installed on my M6 vehicle emits a high level of noise, particularly during cold starts, which may be somewhat overwhelming, especially in enclosed spaces like as garages or underground parking lots. I found both options to be really appealing; but, the M6 surpasses in terms of aesthetic appeal and perceived engine dependability. I refrain from operating the vehicle at high intensity until the engines have reached optimal operating temperature. Additionally, I use a cautious driving approach on my return journey, allowing the vehicle to cool down gradually before turning it off. Furthermore, I maintain a reserve of two bottles of oil in the trunk for unforeseen circumstances. As of now, there have been no reported complications. It is advisable to proceed with caution and do the 55-point inspection, which is offered at a reduced cost by the dealership, during the next service period. Additionally, it is worth noting that the implementation of M-Tax has resulted in an increase in prices across various goods and services. In conclusion, if the primary consideration is not the acquisition of the 650 model for its all-wheel drive capability, it would be advisable to go for the M6 variant.

Factors to consider while evaluating the M340i model

I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to warn people about the dangers of "free" GAP insurance offered by car dealerships. When car dealerships advertise "free" GAP insurance, they often discount the price of the car itself to make up for the cost of the GAP insurance, despite having itemised the GAP insurance policy at full price on the final invoice (note... the "invoice" rather than your "order form" - as the two can be different, and it is the invoice that takes priority at the time of any future GAP insurance claim). On your order form, you may list: Cost of the vehicle to the owner: £36,000 However, the following may appear on your final bill: Price on the vehicle invoice: £35,500.00Total Invoice Amount £36,000.00 GAP Insurance Premium £500.00 The issue is that the dealer's GAP coverage is probably an Invoice GAP insurance kind of cover, which only covers the original invoice price you paid for the car after any discounts were applied. Because of this, it would only cover you up to £35,500 instead of the £36,000 you think you paid for it, costing you an extra £500 in the aforementioned scenario. Motor vehicle dealerships do this because the profit margin on GAP insurance is often high, and dealerships will always present the final invoice in a manner that maximises profits and minimises taxes. One customer's "free" GAP insurance coverage ended up costing her an exorbitant £824 at the time of a future claim. As you can see (here), If your car dealer has cheated you out of money in any way (check your bill of sale! ), you may be able to use the fact that you are still inside the GAP policy's cooling-off period (typically 30 days) to your advantage. Think back to our last example, when GAP insurance was priced at £500 by the dealer. If you cancel during the cooling-off period, they must give you back the whole £500 (perhaps less a modest administration cost, but this is unusual). If you shop around, you may get cheaper Invoice GAP insurance elsewhere. Forum members may save 10% on a three-year Invoice GAP insurance policy from us (5-star rated, insured at Lloyd's), bringing the total cost for insuring a 2020 M340i with an invoice price of about £36,000 down to £177.17 by using the promo code You should review your bill to determine if there is any money you may receive back. -
Factors to consider while evaluating the M340i model

The value of gap insurance would significantly increase in the event of a total loss of your vehicle. -
The power-to-weight ratios and the form of torque curves, particularly those with a high rise, have a significant impact on the perceived acceleration of a vehicle. Additionally, the gearing system plays a crucial role in this regard. Due to the presence of several factors, it is unlikely that a clear response can be provided.

It is remarkable to note that a vehicle with considerable capability and power is equipped with a subpar suspension system as originally provided by the manufacturer. The vehicles are equipped with a standard power output of 313 brake horsepower (BHP) and a torque of 470 pounds (lbs), along with a four-wheel drive (4WD) system. My vehicle now boasts a power output of 400 brake horsepower (BHP) and 570 pounds of torque (LBS), which may be considered comparable to that of a typical F80 M3 in terms of power. Throughout my own experience, I have had three M3 vehicles, all of which have consistently exhibited exceptional handling capabilities. In general, BMW tends to allocate its superior handling packages mostly to their line of vehicles known as "M Cars." The 335d X model exemplifies this particular characteristic, thereby prompting inquiry into the rationale behind the suboptimal selection of springs and shock absorbers. Undoubtedly, the £2,000 investment made in this automobile has shown to be very worthwhile. It is quite likely that the vehicle's performance will now exhibit a remarkable sense of stability and precision, akin to the sensation of being securely guided down a set path. I am always finding justifications to engage in a leisurely drive in my vehicle. It is regrettable that BMW did not equip the vehicle with adequate suspension initially. Another potential alteration that should be taken into consideration is the upgrading of your current brake discs and pads. It is likely that the vehicle under consideration is equipped with the "Big Blue" brake callipers, which are accompanied by front discs measuring 370mm in diameter and rear discs measuring 345mm in diameter. One may get upgraded, drilled, and grooved brake discs at a reasonable cost from reputable manufacturers such as MTEC Brakes. The 'Brembo Extra' pads have been identified as the most superior option in my research. A complete set of front and rear items may be found on eBay for an approximate price of £300. The use of drilled/grooved uprated discs in conjunction with Brembo Xtra pads is undeniably remarkable.

In July of this year, I installed Eibach springs on my 2017 335d in response to concerns regarding both the vehicle's handling and the excessive distance between the wheel and the wheel arch. It became apparent rather swiftly that the original shock absorbers were in a state of disrepair, as they produced disruptive and jarring noises during operation. The sensation was akin to the shock absorbers potentially penetrating the upper turret. Upon prompt examination, it was expeditiously discerned that the shock absorbers were undergoing total compression and, in essence, reaching the point of maximum compression. I have just installed Bilstein B8 shock absorbers, which are appropriately aligned with the height of the lowering springs. The current suspension configuration has a high level of rigidity, perhaps above the optimal threshold. The car, however, has exceptional handling akin to being on rails, which consistently elicits a sense of delight throughout driving. In summary, it is essential to not only replace the springs but also to replace the shocks. If I were to assume your role, I would choose to purchase a coilover kit for the vehicle, given that I have incurred an expenditure of about £1200 on separate occasions for the replacement of shock absorbers and springs. Currently, there are advantageous online offers available for coilover kits. In July, my vehicle had accumulated a mileage of 60,000 miles when the Springs were installed. Subsequently, in early December, when the B8's were fitted, the mileage had increased to 64,000 miles. If the coilover option is not preferred, an alternative approach would include replacing the springs with Eibachs and installing new Bilstein 'regular' replacement shock absorbers, namely the B4 or B6 models. These shock absorbers are known to provide a more comfortable ride compared to the B8 models.

I received a phone call from the dealer who informed me that the key department lacks information pertaining to my vehicle identification number (VIN), which is the reason why a key cannot be produced at this time. The dealer is now in the process of reaching out to BMW Germany in order to determine the appropriate course of action. I am optimistic about obtaining my key without encountering any complications.
-
I contacted the dealership earlier today and was informed that there are no changes about the restriction of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for key orders. The representative, a female employee, expressed her lack of knowledge regarding the reason for this restriction. It is disappointing to note that after having made a payment of $500, I am unable to get a key for the vehicle that I legally own.
-
I will undertake the task as requested. I want to contact them tomorrow in order to ascertain the outcome. On the day that I obtained the registration for my vehicle, I visited the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). It is my conjecture that the DMV system had not yet updated the information, leading to a discrepancy between the data retrieved by BMW and my driver's licence and registration. However, this is only a supposition on my part, and I intend to contact the relevant authorities tomorrow for clarification.

Greetings, esteemed individuals! I recently purchased a 2019 X5 40i vehicle, which unfortunately only came with one key. Consequently, I visited my nearby dealership two days ago to request an additional key. However, I received a call from the dealership this morning, informing me that my vehicle identification number (VIN) has been flagged as restricted, thereby preventing the key order from being processed through BMW. The representative I spoke with was unable to provide an explanation for this restriction and mentioned ongoing communication with BMW representatives to resolve the issue. I express my gratitude in anticipation.

Are you aware of the potential expenses associated with that? In order to get access to the evaporator core, it is necessary to remove the complete dashboard. -
Assistance Requested for X6 E71 Basic Sound System

Yesterday, I acquired a 2012 x6m after concluding my workday. Initially, everything appeared to be functioning properly. However, unexpectedly, when I attempted to increase the volume on the radio, I noticed a complete absence of bass sound. Furthermore, I am unable to raise the volume on the radio, resulting in an unsatisfactory audio experience. I have already inspected all the radio fuses, and they appear to be in proper working order. I am curious to know if there is a specific fuse for the radio amplifier or if any individuals have encountered a similar issue.
