  2. The onboard oil level display in Mercedes vehicles is inadequate, similar to that of all contemporary automobiles. Upon purchasing our E class, the oil level indicated the minimum threshold. Following a comprehensive service, it was also at a minimum level. Due to my obsessive-compulsive tendencies, I added 100ml, resulting in a display of maximum capacity. I consulted our local Mercedes specialist, who indicated that it is not an optimal system and should function well as long as it does not indicate low oil levels. Was the vehicle positioned on a flat surface when it indicated the level? On our device, it frequently indicates that it is measuring the oil level without displaying any information. I detest the absence of a dipstick. Exercise caution when adding oil, as it is highly sensitive and can be easily overfilled, which will trigger a warning message. As it is not possible to extract oil from the dipstick tube in the event of overfilling, it is a nuisance to remove a small amount to achieve the appropriate level.
  3. I possess a 2020 C-Class coupe. The oil level has decreased to slightly above the minimum threshold (refer to the image). I returned it to the main dealer to ascertain whether there was a leak or if it was consuming oil. A visual check was conducted, and I was informed that there were no leaks and that the amount was acceptable, although being slightly above the minimum threshold, with no further explanation provided. The vehicle has barely accumulated 39,000 miles. I feel apprehensive over this matter. Do you have any suggestions?

  6. That’s great to hear!!! Thanks for coming back with the update definitely helps people like me who are still deciding.
  7. Final update from me the RAV4 was delivered to my workplace today and I’m absolutely over the moon with it. If anyone else is sitting on the fence about Whelan Transport, I can honestly say my experience has been spot on from start to finish. Merry Xmas all !!!
  8. Worth mentioning as well with the UK bank fraud protection rules, payments FPS are covered up to £85,000. It’s not something you want to rely on, but it does add an extra safety net when paying by bank transfer.
  9. Morning everyone. I bought a 2021 Peugeot 3008 from Whelan Transport about three weeks ago. I won’t lie making a bank transfer without seeing the car first was nerve-racking. But I spoke to their office several times and they explained everything clearly. Payment went into a segregated business account, and the car was prepared and checked before dispatch. Delivery took 9 days, two days later than initially planned, but they kept me updated the whole time. Car arrived exactly as described.
  10. Please keep us posted I would love to hear a real outcome before pulling the trigger myself on one of their vehicle listed on eBay
  11. Quick update I’ve paid them this morning and everything looks straightforward so far. Feeling a bit nervous now that it’s real, but also cautiously optimistic. Fingers crossed.
  12. I'd want to add another thought If I buy another car from them, I'll probably used their delivery option rather than flying over.
  13. Really glad I found this thread I am currently looking at a 2023 Volvo XC60 Whelan Transport got listed on eBay. I’ve checked their registration, reviews, even rang their office everything checks out. Still sending that kind of money before seeing the car in person definitely makes you hesitate.
  14. I actually flew over from Belfast last month to look at a Tucson Ultimate they had advertised. When I arrived, I was met by a guy called Brian, who walked me through the process and let me take the car out for a short drive. The unit is about 10 minutes from George Best Airport so it was easy enough. Sorted payment the same day.
  15. Same here never heard of them until now but after looking around online, there seem to be quite a few independent mentions. I’m not rushing into anything either, but so far it looks legitimate.
  16. I get the concern, @dave783. I did a bit of background digging myself after seeing one of their ads. Whelan Transport has been registered for years and shows up properly on Companies House. I also called their sales team out of curiosity and got a professional response which is more than you can say for a any scammers
  17. Personally I’d still be wary! Prices that far below average always ring alarm bells for me I’ve seen plenty of cases where people pay first and regret it later. If they won’t allow a viewing or proper paperwork checks, I’d walk away.
  18. I haven’t bought a car from them myself but I do know someone who is worked alongside their transport team on freight job and from what I’ve heard, they’re a long standing logistics company and only recently branched into repossessed vehicle sales through auction sources. Not saying jump straight in but they’re definitely a real outfit not some pop-up page.
  19. Hi all, Hope it’s okay to ask here, I’ve been searching for a newer car and came across a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid listed on Gumtree by Whelan Transport, based in Belfast and what caught my attention is the price it’s roughly £6000 under market value which immediately made me cautious. According to the listing, it’s a loan repossession, which would explain the discount but with the amount of scams going around lately, I’d rather check first. Has anyone here actually bought a car from Whelan Transport, or dealt with them before? Any help would be great
  20. The additional oil changes are essential. One of my vehicles has had oil changes every 12 months, although only accumulating 1,700 miles. However, I prioritise the MOT and oil and filter replacement while it is on the ramp, with other filters replaced as needed.
  21. The longevity of servicing has been exemplary for the makers...
  22. The engine is exceptionally clean, resembling others that have undergone consistent oil changes. Numerous instances of sludge accumulation have been observed in several vehicles, even those with mileage well below 100,000 miles. It clearly demonstrates that long-life servicing is completely fallacious.
  23. Although my car is now mechanically in optimal condition, the money expenditure was irrational (several thousand pounds). I possess an automobile that is relatively well-maintained (considering its 200,000 kilometres) and appears unlikely to malfunction in the near future. Additionally, being Euro 5, it is significantly easier to maintain than a Euro 6 vehicle. Acquiring a newer vehicle in such excellent technical condition would either necessitate 1) purchasing a new automobile or 2) experiencing extraordinary fortune in the used car market. This amount far exceeds the car's value, and insurance companies will not recognise it as having any worth in the event of a claim. Nonetheless, it operates exceptionally well.
  24. The sump is remarkably clean immediately following its removal, considering it has accumulated over 200,000 kilometres. The upper section appeared pristine, devoid of tarnish or muck.
