QuirkEinstein
I purchased a pre-owned KIA Sportage 2isg. Initial Registration 08 February 2021. I purchased it from a merchant in Belfast on June 27, 2024. I was unable to secure the gasoline flap door. I returned it to the vendor twice, but to no avail. The windscreen wipers malfunctioned, prompting me to schedule an appointment for inspection on January 9, 2025. They said that the water in the reservoir resembled a gelatinous material, but they would not impose a price for it. The repair of the gasoline flap door revealed that the fuel tank cap string was entangled in the door mechanism. That was not the situation when I last examined it that morning. They charged me £50.40. I believed it was still under warranty, but they informed me it was not. Does anybody have any insights on this matter? SkippyTom
I recall that this is a prevalent issue; the gasoline filler pipe need adjustment under warranty. Conducting a search on the forum will provide further information.
guyskin
Regarding the warranty. Has the vehicle been serviced according to Kia specifications?
Darrellll
The transformation of washer fluid into a gelatinous substance is a prevalent problem, often resulting from the amalgamation of several windscreen washer fluids. Adhere to a single brand, and such an occurrence should be avoided. The gasoline flap should have been a warranty issue; however, because it was caused by the filler cap strap being lodged in the hinge, the dealer would contend that it resulted from user mistake. I am not advocating for this; I am only presenting an alternate perspective. The gasoline flaps on Kia vehicles seem to be susceptible to not aligning properly, and several discussions on this issue exist here. Maintain the fuel cap handle in a horizontal position, since this seems to be an effective option for the majority.
Screwdriver_1
The gasoline filler cap handle must be positioned horizontally for the flap to shut correctly.
Howard_silver
I see that my flap shuts more well when I put the cap at 10 to 4. Additional roles may potentially be available.
