CheresX
Greetings. I own a 2016 BMW F10 530D. Having owned several vehicles and experienced various aspects, I much like the driving dynamics, quality, tactile sensation, aesthetics, and overall design of this automobile. I purchased it second-hand in April. Today, I consulted a clever repairer about my rear bumper and enquired about what I believed to be touch-ups on the passenger rear door. He said that it seems to be oxidation, which may signify the onset of rust spots. I was incredulous! I have seen reports indicating that some individuals have experienced them. Is it advisable to fix and retain the vehicle? I have not yet visited BMW to see if they can inspect the door's paint and verify that it has not been previously altered before confirming any potential warranty coverage. Could anybody share their experiences, ple
Alex1978
The paint warranty once extended for 12 years, then reduced to 10 years, and may now be much shorter.
Chrishazle
It is advisable to enquire with BMW, however I would not anticipate a favourable outcome. Please inform us of their response.
VWDaveBMW
The presence of rust on a 2016 vehicle implies that it has likely undergone bodywork, despite the expectation of galvanisation in contemporary models.
dave783
Corrosion of the alloy on the top margins of the doors is prevalent.
CheresX
Thank you, everyone. The BMW bodyshop assistant said that the guarantee is now eight years. I said that I had learnt it was 12 years before, among other details. He said that he would submit the task request for warranty. I must await the outcome. Failure to proceed will be problematic; I estimate the expense to completely disassemble and refinish two doors will be around £1,000. Alex1978
The outcome is contingent upon the dealer; I have seen postings from years past indicating that some individuals were denied due to alterations in the paint, rendering it non-original, while some received warranty coverage and others did not.Best of luck, and yes, I believed the guarantee period for paint had been modified. Chrishazle
Thus far, everything is satisfactory. I hope for your success. As Rasa previously said, many encounter the response "it has been painted before, goodbye," and you attempt to demonstrate that it has not.
