WordSmith
I was driving home from work in silence when I came to a halt at a light and placed the gearbox in N. When the lights turn green, shift to D, but nothing happens—there are no gears at all! When the automobile entered Trans, Fail Mode, you managed to restart the ignition to get it rolling. Bringing it back to the garage one again tomorrow, predictions, please? Because with these automobiles, it's either nothing or a complete breakdown, a new gearbox or a malfunctioning sensor! Motoman
Hello to everyone, I just got a BMW X5, and it has a few problems. I was wondering if anyone could help: 1. The CD Autochanger's screen says "no discs" even though it has a few in it. 2.The back seats of the car have screens, but they don't work. Is there somewhere a master switch? I think these came with the car because there is a TV button near the fans in the back. 3. The lock on the remote doesn't work. The guy said new batteries are needed, but from what I can tell, the keyfob is a locked unit, so not can the batteries be changed? Any help would be much appreciated! Even with these problems, I still love it! Thanks

Disc changer, as silly as it sounds, is it properly installed? or attempt to breath on it, as particles can cause this. My E46's key may require reprogramming; I'm presently experiencing this issue. cannot assist with television displays
drummer
Hello, the key automatically recharges whenever the engine is started. It's possible that you'll need to press the lock button twice, depending on how you've set up the central locking system. BMW may need to re-program the key if it still doesn't function. When my CD player acts up, all I have to do is remove the discs and reintroduce them before it starts working again. Even though it's probably obvious, have you double-checked the boot to make sure there's a DVD player in addition to the disc player? Its possible that no longer being there is the cause of your lack of reception.
Mistral
Was it a private or dealer purchase, etc.? If dealer, etc., return it. As ridiculous as it may seem, is it a disc changer? Dust might cause this, so try blowing into it instead. Key may need to be reprogrammed; my E46 is now experiencing this issue. Sorry, I can't assist with TV displays. drummer
Hi, the ignition key charges automatically. The central locking may need two presses. BMW may need to reprogram the key if it doesn't work. Taking discs out and putting them back in fixes my CD player sometimes. Have you examined the boot for a DVD player? No sig may be because someone erased it. Mistral
I cannot recall which of these resolved the issue with my X key, but as previously stated, the key charges the ignition when driving. BMW X5 - Programming Key Remote Three strategies to try: Method 1: Working from inside the vehicle with the hatches closed Within 5 seconds, turn the ignition to position 1 and then off again. Remove the key from the ignition and press and hold the unlock button for 15 seconds; then, within 5 seconds, press the key lock button three times. 4. Let go of both keys. Doors will close and release to demonstrate precise programming. Method 2: For this procedure, you will need one functional key and one key that requires programming. 1) Enter and secure all doors. 2) Turn the ignition on and off rapidly. (No longer than five seconds) to initiate the procedure. The next action must occur within 30 seconds. 3) Eliminate the first key. 4) Hold the button near your left shoulder so that it is closer to the antenna of the remote receiver. 5) Maintaining the unlock button depressed, press the lock button three times. When the unlock button is released, the doors secure, confirming the operation. 6) Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the second key, etc. If it does not work, try pressing the keys backwards. Instead of 1 then 2, press 2 then 1. Method 3: Alternate if you lack a functional remote Quickly turn the key to position 1 five times 2. Remove the key 3. Hold the unlock button, then press the lock button three times, and then release the unlock button. 4. If you have another key, select the identical button within 30 seconds 5.Start the engine to conclude. NOTE: This programming procedure programmes the key's remote control feature. A specialist is required to programme any transponder device for the immobiliser (car beginning).
