  1. I've been looking around for a new family car but haven't found much that I like. Requirements are: Hybrid or Petrol Good-sized trunk (more than 550L) 5 door Isofix 0-62mph <10s Parking sensors Not very long (about 4.7m). Nice interior A quiet and smooth ride <£40k Android Auto Reliable (maybe hybrids have more things that can go wrong?) I drive about 9,000 miles a year, which is mostly a mix of small trips on the highway and around town, as well as longer trips and vacations. Because of the outbreak, the current numbers aren't as high as they could be. Content to wait The Toyota Corolla Touring Sports Icon Tech 2.0 might work, but I don't know much about them. Skoda Octavia Estate is another option, but we're moving towards the Toyota because we'll use it for some short trips and like the idea of a hybrid (plug-in hybrids or full electrics aren't really an option because our garage/parking space isn't right next to our house). Has anyone tried out the new Corolla Estate?
  2. Features photographs from the Arctic showing a variety of items that may be used and advise from experienced users; it also includes a link to a technique given by a user who is no longer active but provides the best way to achieve this. Nonetheless, how long is a piece of string?
  3. Thank you everybody for your prompt responses! When'me lad' picked it up, it went aground on a minor bump in the road and had to be lifted off by six big firefighters from a neighbouring station. On examination, the ground clearance was about 2". We gradually increased it to around 4, but it still grinds on speed bumps. It reminds me of a worm-infested dog! Even at the danger of huge holes beneath the arches, it seems that another inch is in order. Should I try Mr Bell's wedges as well? This solves the Christmas gift dilemma. Apart than needing to remove my left leg when cruising, it's a fantastic drive. It reminds me of the Ford-powered Morgan I had in my childhood, which I thought was the best thing ever but was really a technical nightmare! However, if I push my right buttock to the starboard side, I can just fit my port knee between the wheel and the dash support! OK, till we need to shift direction!
  4. Ahoy ! Simply rejoined. Find your website challenging! Have just placed No. 1 son's 2B back on the road and am quite delighted with the outcome! When one encounters a disturbance, the vehicle jumps and points either at the edge of the road or, more alarmingly, at oncoming traffic. Suspect that the rear wishbones, which have been depressed to achieve proper wheel clearance, are to blame. Understand that tapered spacers are available, but that they only rectify the inclination? What is the solution?
  5. I'll keep everyone updated on this, buddy. I bought a digital torque and angle tool and have a bearing arriving tomorrow. I also have a secondhand oil pump that came from an engine with a slipped chain.
  6. I promise to follow through. Only when the engine was hot did the oil indicator light up. I tried turning on the air conditioner at slightly higher RPMs, but the light still didn't turn on, leading me to believe that the problem was likely low pressure caused by worn bearings at low RPMs. Aside from that, you're probably going to take out the oil pump and have a look. The sump's pressure sensor developed a leak, causing more oil loss.
  7. Thanks for the reply the crank looks perfect not even a scratch on it Don’t get why the oil pressure light started comming on so gonna put a new oil pump in also just incase
  8. I'm going to put a new pump in it at the same time, but I've read that if these are old, it could have low pressure. As I don't know if the previous owners ran it low on oil, causing it to wear out faster than it should have, Strange, because only the top bearings look like this. The bottom bearings have a few marks but are fine.
  9. So the engine began banging very gently the other day, and I stopped driving and never drove again. The red oil light has been flashing every now and again for a while, so I dropped the sump off today expecting to see chain guilds, but all clear and guided are great, then I pulled the large ends off next and discovered this crank is still perfect with no marks on it. Will this result in low oil pressure, or should I replace the oil pump anyway?
  10. I replaced the Potenza runflats on my 116 with Goodyear EageF1 asymetric 3 tyres that Kwikfit had on sale last summer. (£330 for 225/45/17) set installed by their mobile service They are an excellent all-around tyre, with exceptional ride quality, noise, and feel.
  11. superior with this https://www.mid-auto.com/profile/11-bytestorm/
  12. 6.5 L of certified BMW Longlife-04 oil is required.
