  2. Simply inform the vehicle that a new DPF has been installed.
  3. I have secured a reservation for Tuesday of next week at the nearby Indy. Inspect the fuel return pipe for leaks (o-rings), the offside headlamp is filled with condensation, and examine this DPF component. He did indicate manipulating the system to perceive itself as younger than its true age. I acquire a Tesla on Tuesday, so I suspect the BMW is feeling dejected.
  4. If the information code indicates that the DPF has reached the end of its lifespan, you can inform that a new DPF has been installed. Since it is merely an informational code, it would not trigger a drivetrain alert.

  6. This emerged this afternoon while I was parking following a 257-mile round journey. I possess BimmerLink, so I conducted a brief inspection, and it seems the DPF has reached its threshold of 142,000 miles. Is there a method to restore it? I attempted to erase the codes, but it was unsuccessful.
  7. The availability of EV charging infrastructure will enable smaller supermarkets such as Lidl and Aldi to compete in the transportation sector, as they typically lack the space for a petrol station but have ample opportunity for EV charging. As petrol stations begin to shut down, they have aligned their value addition with what the major supermarkets can presently attain.
  8. It is essential to equilibrate the velocity. 7kW units are generally ineffective, while a solitary 150kW unit would also be suboptimal. A handful of 50kW units operating at 80% efficiency during your shopping would be ideal.
  9. I understand, but there is still another contention that individuals without home charging cannot operate an electric vehicle.
  10. Today
  11. The presence of chargers in supermarkets is an excellent concept, as the majority of us shop weekly and can recharge our devices simultaneously, thus saving time.
  12. The charging stations being set up at my nearby Lidl are situated in the four parking spots nearest to the entrance, resulting in significant competition for their use.
  13. I occasionally perceive the supermarket charging stations as exclusive VIP parking for life's achievers. In my experience, it is typically possible to access one, and the likelihood of your door being damaged is minimal due to the ample space. I once entered a bustling supermarket where parking was virtually nonexistent. I had no necessity for a recharge, yet I decided to seize the opportunity of the appealing EV charging spot nearby. Another advantage for the electric vehicle.
  14. A few chargers are presently being set up at my nearby Lidl. The decision to install chargers at supermarkets has always appeared to be an unusual choice, yet it likely provides some assistance to those lacking dedicated home charging.

  16. In the United Kingdom, the supermarket chain Lidl has reduced the cost of rapid electric vehicle charging for users of its Plus app and pledged an additional £10 million investment in its nationwide charging infrastructure. In the United Kingdom, the retailer has allegedly reduced its Lidl Plus charging rate from £0.62 to £0.59 per kWh. The budget supermarket asserts that the reduced rate may enable drivers to save approximately £4.41 per charging session relative to the market average, which it estimates totals around £529 annually for frequent users. Simultaneously, Lidl is augmenting its electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout the UK. It intends to allocate £10 million to the network in the ongoing fiscal year, which encompasses the installation of approximately 100 new rapid chargers at existing outlets, especially in areas lacking EV charging facilities. The retailer plans to implement fast chargers at most of its newly constructed locations as a component of its continuous growth. Richard Taylor, the chief real estate officer of Lidl GB, stated: “By augmenting our rapid charging stations, we are facilitating a straightforward and economical solution for customers to recharge during their shopping – aiding electric vehicle operators in reducing expenses and promoting more sustainable daily practices.” Lidl has been augmenting its charging infrastructure in the UK for multiple years. In 2019, the supermarket declared a £25 million investment to implement rapid chargers at more than 300 locations, while only 40 Lidl stores possessed chargers at that time. Currently, approximately one-third of Lidl GB locations provide rapid charging as a consequence. It highlights that, in contrast to other supermarket chains, it does not depend on external operators – rather, it possesses its charging stations entirely. Lidl was the inaugural supermarket to incorporate electric vehicle payments directly into its loyalty application.
  17. Acclimating to the return of a spacious four-seater, Ant. The technology is remarkable, significantly surpassing that of my previous 2015 W212 E63; however, I am fortunate to have a head start due to my experience with the MBUX system in the A-Class. In certain respects, it resembles returning to the AMG family, yet in other aspects, it feels akin to entering an audacious new realm. This weekend marks my inaugural extensive journey in it, thus I will have additional insights to share afterward; however, it has been remarkably impressive thus far.
  18. It is reassuring to receive that information. It's wonderful that you secured an excellent deal. How is the new family vehicle performing?
  19. Apologies... A considerable amount of money is lacking, if you don't object. 😉😆
  20. According to Martin Brundle, you are: 'a day tardy and a dollar deficient.'
  21. At last, I have returned to a residence that accommodates a second vehicle, thus I am eager to acquire a convertible Mercedes. It has been eight years since I disposed of my exquisite SLK32, which appears to have undergone a plate alteration as it has vanished. I would consider another option, yet I have always been enamoured with the R171 SLK55, making it my primary choice; the 32 models exhibit erratic pricing, take considerable time to sell, and most suffer from cosmetic defects, which I wish to avoid, as I prefer any rust to remain concealed on the subframe! The 55 models with approximately 70,000 miles appear to be priced between £14,000 and £16,000. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are several questionable options available on eBay priced between £8,000 and £9,000. There are several potentially altered versions priced at approximately £16,000. I am seeking a vehicle priced between £10,000 and £12,000, with little concern for mileage, focusing instead on its condition. I have observed numerous properties that have remained on the market for an extended period without selling, as well as those with seemingly overly ambitious pricing. There is a listing on eBay for a vehicle that has accumulated 152,000 miles and has been declared a total loss, priced at £12,500. I have no interest in that specific option, but I believe that if a quality, low-mileage vehicle can be acquired for £15k, then a high-mileage, totalled vehicle should be considerably cheaper, and I would anticipate a price closer to the £8-9k range. What price would you anticipate for a vehicle with a pristine history and excellent condition that has surpassed 100,000 miles? Is my financial allocation insufficient to acquire a satisfactory option?
  22. Yesterday
  23. What annoys me is that this is the same type of information that is commonly found in car repair manuals and similar resources, but it isn't implemented when the car is being built! When I purchased my 2016 Mondeo, it had 3,000 miles on the odometer and was six months old. Three months later, I had to take it in for a warranty claim (which Ford first tried to avoid, but the dealers were on my side). The reason was that the rear discs were completely damaged due to the pads seizing, which occurred because Ford neglected to apply brake lubricant to any of the contact points during assembly. Very well done.
  24. No one I worked with believed it would make a difference when the brakes weren't leaking and were functioning normally; it's possible the Fiesta has the same problem as the Escort. Driving on a rainy day and then leaving the car parked for a day or two would eventually ruin our GTi. So, I made my "mod" a regular part of servicing the brakes on all of my work vehicles, and the number of vehicles experiencing issues gradually decreased. The boss began to believe it a bit more after seeing that the cured cars were all ones I had performed my "mod" on; as a result, it became routine for all of our non-menu serviced vehicles.
  25. This is really helpful information for me, so thank you very much. The wheels were cleaned with a jet washer two days prior to my attempt to drive the car, but I was unable to do so because the handbrake was stuck! Since it happened the other day, I haven't attempted to move the car. Tomorrow, I plan to take a hammer to it and gently drive it backward and forwards to see if that helps. Nonetheless, this must be deliberate. The inside of the drum must have become rusted from water intrusion. Everything you've done to assist me is greatly appreciated. After I examine the vehicle, I will provide an update to everyone on this thread.
  26. If there's enough room, you can try driving backward, but it might yank it loose occasionally. it may be helpful to hit the drum a few times on its face (the flat side where the hub is) with a hammer, as mentioned by others. In most cases, the culprit is a leaky wheel cylinder that lets water in and causes the wheels to become stuck. Additionally, if the vehicle has alloy wheels, washing it might be all that's needed to slightly adhere them. information discovered on our BRAND NEW Escort GTi. At the time, I was employed at the supplying dealership. When it was out of warranty, I decided to do my own inspection (since my boss never assigned me the task). I applied a thin layer of copperslip to the backing plates where the shoes touched, moved the handbrake lever forward on the shoe, and coated it with copperslip. From then on, the fault never reappeared. For a while, I was the only customer at that dealership who had a solution to this problem, and it eventually spread to cars with alloy wheels (presumably because water could more easily enter the drums through the larger holes in alloys). should be kept in mind when driving with alloy wheels
  27. Indeed, a prevalent issue, as mentioned earlier. If you want to access the adjuster wheel and set it to free, you can remove a grommet from the backplate of some of them. As far as I can recall, the Fiesta Mk7 does not have this feature, and I would assume that earlier models did not either. Turn off the handbrake adjuster and check that the cable isn't getting tangled up when you press down on the lever. Then, as mentioned earlier, hit the drum with a large, soft-faced hammer—or, if you're okay with that, a regular hammer—but preferably a heavy one. Turning on the wheel might get you there, but it's highly unlikely. At the very least, you can attempt driving in reverse and forwards to see if you can reach it while the wheel is on. Hopefully, you can remove the drum if that doesn't work. If your handbrake becomes stuck, you can unfasten it by removing one or two small torx screws; otherwise, you'll have to prop a bar under the studs to prevent the drum from turning! If they're corroded, you can drill off the heads. After that, you can try to remove the drum by screwing a suitable bolt into the threaded hole that Ford should have provided. If you can, spray penetrating fluid into the space between the drum and the backplate lip, and give the sides a more liberal whack; this will also aid the process. A friend of mine once drove the short distance to the garage while the rear wheel was locked and dragged behind him—not a good idea!
