ianwh4
Hello, my 2015 520D F11 does not reach the temperature shown on the dashboard; it only attains around 80 degrees. Will this be the thermostat, or could it maybe be something else? Thank you
Mistral
That is the oil temperature, not the coolant temperature; it is advisable to verify the coolant temperature first and proceed accordingly.
ianwh4
Thank you for the information; I was unaware. I examined the hidden menu, and during a satisfactory run, the oil temperature reached 89-90 degrees, while the coolant temperature ranged from 80 to 83 degrees. Thank you. ianwh4
Do you believe it is operating at an excessively low temperature, and if so, what do you consider the most effective course of action? Thank you.
Mistral
The oil temperature is satisfactory at around 100 degrees, but the coolant temperature is lower than desired, albeit not enough low to inhibit regeneration processes at this time. Start the engine from a cold state and observe if the hose from the thermostat heats up at the same pace as the other components. If it does, the thermostat is likely jammed open, since it should remain cold until it opens at around 85 degrees Celsius.
