IrvesBMW
My F11 displays a daytime running light issue on the dashboard, however all lights function properly. The prior owner said that the problem began when he replaced the headlight bulb. I have removed the headlight module and cleaned the connections, but the error persists. All lights are functioning properly. I prefer not to change a module until necessary; may the headlight bulb replacement be the source of this issue? dave783
The bulb in the Daytime Running Light may be faulty. Some are not compatible with can-bus and will display an error.
Motoman
If the daytime running lights function correctly but the error notice persists, the daytime running light detecting circuit may be malfunctioning.
IrvesBMW
Are you aware of any solutions for this issue, considering that both components function correctly? Would changing the module be beneficial?
MrGreedy
Examine the module for indications of corrosion, since it is a prevalent f1x problem. Access it via the inspection panel located in the wheel arch liner. A few T20 screws and remove the sliding module.
IrvesBMW
Indeed, rusting was present.
IrvesBMW
Indeed, there was some dampness. The previous owner removed the headlamp bulb and neglected to reattach the headlight cover. Since I replaced the cover, the headlight is now dry, and there is some rust on the module pins, which I cleaned with isopropyl alcohol before reassembling. Does this module execute the DRL? Both Daytime Running Lights are functioning effectively; nonetheless, the persistent fault indicator on the dashboard remains bothersome. I can just change it but prefer not to purchase one without guidance. Does it need coding for the 2012 520d M Sport? Additionally, any recommendations on purchasing the module with two T20 screws and a black gasket, rather than the red variant with three screws, would be appreciated. MrGreedy
My previous F11 had the same issue; I successfully removed the rust and addressed the moisture infiltration, resulting in the problem being resolved. If not, you are considering a replacement module.
