Geek2232
Seeking a substitute vehicle for my wife and contemplating a 2020 D180 Evoque variant. Her customary round trip spans 20 miles at speeds ranging from 40 to 60 MPH to see her children and grandkids, maybe include a stop at the store. Approximately four times every week. Approximately 4,000 miles annually, with a MOT and service conducted each year by my local independent shop. Do these kind of excursions pose a risk for DPF issues? TechWhiz
Given such driving style, I would choose for petrol.
Mistral
Conduct a thorough run every few weeks to maintain its optimal condition. Regularly replace the engine oil. Appreciate the vehicle and explore further regions of the nation - indulge in fine cuisine and unwind. Life is ephemeral; savour it.
developer
Facelift models seem to present significantly fewer concerns than the first generation; I do not recall encountering any posts regarding DPF issues with the facelift vehicles. That said, I operated a D180 MY17 for over five years without any DPF complications, and I am currently using a MY24 D200 without any problems thus far (I acknowledge it is still early), having replaced a particularly problematic P300e. If you choose the Diesel option, I recommend using only premium gasoline and including a can of Liquid Molly DPF cleanser every 2000 miles. £6 per can on Amazon and premium petrol at Costco priced at £1.31 per litre on my previous refuelling. Screwdriver_1
Are you referring to this, please? Â https://www.amazon.co.uk/Liqui-Moly-Diesel-Particulate-Protector/dp/B00VP4WZ2Q?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=
Screwdriver_1
That is the DPF protector; they also provide a diesel additive for injector and DPF cleaning, but I believe you were referring to this one, which is applied every 2000 miles. Geek2232
Thank you for the feedback, everyone. Given the low miles, the petrol alternative seems to be the preferable choice. It is reassuring to understand that the diesel alternative remains viable with occasional use and maybe the addition of an additive every few thousand miles. EatSuru
If I do not use premium diesel fuel (such as V Power), I include 50ml of Archoil AR6900 with each refuelling. I have not had any issues; however, I monitor the DPF soot level and do extended drives (over 90 miles in around 2 hours) once a month.
