I need a silver motorised folding wing mirror for an E46 M3 coupe.

I had been searching for a year, but without any success...As a last option, I am considering myself opening them up and replacing the internal components. What is your opinion?

Affirmative, it is indeed possible to do this task, and BMW does provide mirror actuators for sale. These actuators are handed, meaning they have specific versions for the left and right sides of the vehicle. Here are the corresponding component numbers:https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BL92-EUR-04-2003-E46-BMW-M3&diagId=51_4233

These items are exclusive to the M3-M5 models and have a price of £240 apiece.

In the past, I have successfully corrected similar issues on several vehicle models, however I have not specifically worked on a BMW. Therefore, I cannot definitively confirm whether the repair can be performed on a BMW, although I would be astonished if it were impossible.
