Chrishazle
The clutch pedal on my Evoque fails to automatically return to the upright position while shifting gears. Although the clutch is not experiencing slippage, it is inconvenient to manually lift the pedal with my foot. Do you have any hypotheses on the potential cause of this issue? I am unable to locate the master cylinder in order to inspect the fluid level.
keithmerc220
The reason for this is because the brakes and clutch share a same reservoir.
alpaco45
Is there no return spring on the pedal?
ByteStorm
The majority of the force required for the return action will come from the clutch mechanism rather than a spring specifically designed for returning. When a seal on a piston in one of the cylinders is damaged, fluid is able to circumvent it, resulting in an inconsistent return of the clutch pedal. The slave cylinder is located within the bell housing. Considering the workload and the car's age, it might be advisable to replace the clutch while the bell housing is removed. Chrishazle
Thank you for the information. I have scheduled an appointment for the automobile to be inspected at a nearby garage. The automobiles have a relatively low mileage of just over 40,000 kilometres, which indicates a potentially high cost.
ByteStorm
Travelling 40,000 miles in heavy traffic is likely more unfavourable than doing 140,000 kilometres on major roads and highways.
KissezFun
Possible causes for the issue might include a malfunctioning master cylinder, situated behind the clutch pedal, or a faulty spring damper connected to the clutch pedal. If you are in need of a damper for your clutch pedal, I have one available for sale. The damper is brand new and comes connected to the pedal. Chrishazle
Thank you. It seems that there might be several possibilities. Cars will be sent to the garage on Monday, so we will be able to determine the exact issue at that time. I will share the result after I have confirmed it.
