ByteStorm
Hello Can anybody suggest a reputable company that specialises in rechroming? On a 1946 Austin, I need the bumpers and overriders chromed. I'm prepared to go up to 50 miles from my home in Manchester. Thanks a lot
DreamWeaver
Niphos in Crewe has produced positive outcomes for me in the past, but not for quite some time. I keep intending to return to see if they can repair my front insignia. I am unsure of their current pricing, but I have heard that they are quite expensive. Now I use a different guy; he can't make my insignia, but he's been very cost-effective with other things. However, he is in Coventry, which is outside your jurisdiction. ByteStorm
Thanks Dream I've seen them on the Internet, but we haven't talked yet. I'll keep that in mind and see if anyone else has any ideas.
CodeCrusader
I, too, have used Niphos in Crewe; I haven't used it in approximately six years, but the chrome still looks great. Crewe's train station is within a short walking distance.
ByteStorm
Many thanks to Code I can confirm that customers have positive things to say about that business; I will write them an email. In addition to this, they were somewhat pricey. When I had anything done the previous time, it was two bumpers and overriders, as well as four hubcaps and two headlights. I don't have much of an idea about it. £135 for the whole bunch!!! Long long ago !!

However, how much labour is required to create a surface that is smooth enough to plate will all depend on the situation.
Geek2232
I suggest you stop at Derby Platers if the trip is not too lengthy. My two vehicles both have radiator casings that were made by them. Both the Austin Swallow and the Dodge Brothers were chrome plated. The quality of the repairs they made before plating really stood out to me. In my opinion, they are among the finest in the area, and they informed me that the price they offered me would be the amount I paid regardless of the vehicle's brand. While I agree that they are pricey, I believe that you usually get what you pay for.
ByteStorm
I just received a quotation from Niphos in Crewe for a job that would take six weeks and cost £350 for a whopping £50 per overrider.
DreamWeaver
I cannot visualise the magnitude of the fender to determine whether or not it is competitive. In 1998, when I was refurbishing my Firenza, I had Niphos complete some of the parts. The trunk latch and door handles are the same as they were back then. The door handles were never installed; they've been stored in the garage because they were finished so late and I wanted to move on with reassembling the doors, figuring I'd replace them shortly. Twenty years later, I'm about to do them.
ByteStorm
The bumper has a width of 4 feet and 5 inches and a depth of 3 inches, making it rather thin. It also has a few rusty places. They demand £540 inclusive of vat for the two overriders, which is a sum that seems to be pretty steep. Despite the fact that it is the very first quotation I have ever had, I shall examine it further.
Geek2232
Crowthorne chrome plated my Swallow door knobs, hinges, and tread plates. They took forever. I was ignored and told "next week" whenever I called. I went there to find out about the delay, and the man stated they misplaced my goods. I saw something recognisable on the shelf behind him. My Swallow parts were plated and ready for pickup. They lost my components and neglected to bill me! Some moms do.
