The 2012 Kia Sportage AWD KX4 was purchased with problems.

Recommended Posts

Greetings, I am new to the Sportage and I am seeking assistance from someone knowledgeable with it. I purchased the aforementioned vehicle little more than a week ago from a dealership and have already identified two problems.
Initially, the AWD warning light was on at the time of purchase.I just became aware of it after driving the car 200 miles back to my house. The device does not remain continuously powered, but rather turns on and off at irregular intervals. Not just at the first stages.
The second problem is that the seatbelt on the driver's side does not remain securely fastened. I had two instances of losing balance when leaning forward at a crossroads. However, a more concerning incident occurred when my boyfriend was driving and abruptly used the brakes, causing me to lose balance and fall off.
I have reached out to the dealer on the purported 3-month Bluechip warranty, however it seems that there are discrepancies.
The dealer advised me to clean and apply a spray on the seatbelt, suggesting that the issue may be related to improper fastening. I was displeased with it. The warranty has previously explicitly stated that they would not provide coverage for this particular issue.
In addition, he said that the AWD light was not on at the moment of purchase; nevertheless, I had evidence to the contrary.

I will be bringing my vehicle to a nearby shop tomorrow to get the seatbelt inspected. However, none of the local garages are willing to address the problem with the AWD light.
I scheduled an appointment with the main Kia dealer for a check-up, but my dealer informed me that the warranty does not cover the charges charged by Kia. Additionally, I will have to wait for a month before I can have it inspected.
My father, who inspected the automobile on my behalf, advised me to return the car and request a refund within 30 days, citing its unsuitability for its intended use. However, the dealer is denying any problems with the car. Furthermore, once the Kia dealer examines it, it will already be too late. If there is a problem with the all-wheel drive (AWD) system, any necessary repairs would fall beyond the timeframe or maximum limit covered by the warranty.
Do you have any guidance or recommendations? Thank you.

If you purchased the automobile with cash, there is no need for further action. However, if you financed the car, I recommend reaching out to your financing provider for assistance in this matter.

If you are experiencing any issues related to the sale of a car, I recommend seeking advice from Citizens Advice on your legal rights.Contact the auto dealer via email to express your dissatisfaction with the car and inform them that you are considering getting legal counsel in order to start the process of returning the vehicle. Regardless of what the dealer indicated when they sold it to you, the issue has occurred inside the three-month timeframe.

According to my father, the refund must be made within a 30-day period. The dealer instructed to return the automobile for resolution of the concerns, but, they also said that the malfunctioning seatbelt is not a concern.

Thank you. I explicitly informed him of my preference for purchasing a vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD) due to our ownership of animals and the need of pulling a trailer. The problem I am facing is that I am unable to get my vehicle examined by a local technician due to time limitations. None of them are willing to work on it, and the Kia dealership has a waiting period of one month.
Therefore, I am uncertain about the appropriate course of action, since the dealer or the warranty provider may refuse to provide coverage if the fault with the AWD system is significant. And I will exceed the 30-day time frame.

Based on my own experience, I would recommend documenting your concerns by either sending an email to the dealer you purchased the vehicle from or sending a letter via recorded delivery. Clearly outline the faults you have encountered and express your intention to reject the automobile.

Is the seatbelt replacement completed, since it is both a MOT failure and a significant safety concern? Did this dealer subject it to a MOT inspection? The AWD problem may range from a little issue such as a loose wire to a significant expense for repair.

Based on my own experience, it is likely that they would intentionally prolong this situation until you have beyond a certain point.
