TechWhiz
The rubber seals around the windscreen, against which the top and door of my E350 convertible seal, are experiencing dryness and reduced flexibility. What are the opinions on the most effective lubricant and rubber restorative currently available? Thank you
bvlenci
We use silicon lubricant with great efficacy. Frequently purchased from Lidl, so not a wise financial decision. Both my 300CE and my son's 190D1.5 are in good condition.
Motoman
An excellent but costly choice is Krytox, the seal restorer highly suggested by BMW for the Eos (notorious for seal issues!). A more cost-effective option is GummiPflege, and the most affordable source is often Micks Garage on Ebay when purchasing two items instead of one. I have been use that product on both of my vehicles for a considerable number of years, including my previous 968 cabriolet before acquiring the SLK. jimmy47785
Purchasing gummipfledge in the form of a 500ml spray is more cost-effective compared to the roll-on sticks. White silicone grease is an inexpensive alternative.
DSM10000
It is important to note that one should never mistake gummipflege spray for KY Jelly. An unfortunate incident occurred to an individual on this platform last year, and the outcome was unfavourable. The windows of his house were dislodged and tumbled out. jimmy47785
Is that because KY might potentially contain petroleum derivatives?
TechWhiz
Thank you for your recommendations. May I deplete my supply of KY jelly as I have never discovered a practical application for it?
