KissezFun
Greetings, everyone. During my recent online exploration, I serendipitously encountered many YouTube videos that provided instructions on accessing the administrative interface of the audio 20 NTG5*1 (non-touchscreen) system and enabling the functionality of Android Auto. The video provided instructions on how to do the task on a mobile device by simultaneously pressing the terminate call button together with the number 1 and hash keys on the dialling keypad. I am inquiring about the feasibility of activating the dialling keypad on my 2017 e class vehicle, since it is now absent. I have come across some information on On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) dongles that may be used for activation. If feasible, I would appreciate any recommendations from those who have personal experience utilising such devices. Thank you in advance. QuirkEinstein
I would suggest seeking the services of an online Mercedes programmer, maybe via platforms like as Facebook advertising or Gumtree, in order to facilitate the activation process. The most cost-effective device I am aware of for conducting bi-directional communications, namely coding, with MB is priced at around £140. Consequently, it seems plausible that engaging the services of a coder would be a more economical option. The AMG menus were successfully enabled, the air conditioning power was enhanced, and the vehicle was permanently lowered (utilising an air suspension system), along with many other modifications, all accomplished for a budget of £200 and a time frame of around 30 minutes. br1anuk
Initially, it should be noted that the NTG4.5/4.7 was the last iteration of the COMAND unit that had an engineering menu accessible without the use of STAR. However, it is my understanding that this capability is no longer available on the NTG5.x. Could you kindly provide a hyperlink to the YouTube video in question? Subsequently, the process entails more than only activating the COMAND system. Instead, it necessitates the use of SCN code, once again using the STAR diagnostic tool, to configure the appropriate choices. The topic of discussion is the integration of smartphones in the 14U and 15U age groups. The pre-installation of smartphone integration MB Link, sometimes known as 16U, is a feature that allows for seamless integration of smartphones with the vehicle's infotainment system. The incorporation of Carplay smartphone technology, namely the 17U model, is a noteworthy development in the automotive industry. The smartphone application known as Google Automotive Link. Options 14U and 15U need the installation of a new USB Port that is compatible with smartphone integration. This is likely the necessary information required to successfully complete the task. Customers have the option to choose our workshop in Surrey for the installation of the necessary software update and replacement of car parts, ensuring compliance with Mercedes standards. Alternatively, if this option is not selected, we will provide the required parts along with instructions for self-installation. However, customers will be responsible for completing the final steps by visiting their local dealer.
br1anuk
I apologise for the oversight. Upon more reflection, I have come to see that my previous comment was specifically addressing the compatibility of the mentioned kit with the COMAND system, rather than the Audio20 system. Regrettably, the aforementioned kit is not compatible with the Audio20 system.
QuirkEinstein
Indeed, I too misinterpreted the information. It is plausible to consider that the optimal resolution may be found on AliExpress, where an aftermarket plug and play box for Audio 20 that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is available. KissezFun
Thank you for your enthusiastic response. I will do a thorough search for the aftermarket Audio20 box. I need verification of the audio in order to validate the version/model. The current model under consideration does not include a touch screen interface and lacks the inclusion of Comand system activation notification upon powering on, unlike its predecessor, the 2014 coupe variant of the E-Class. The Garmin satellite navigation system equipped with TomTom traffic warnings.
br1anuk
If the vehicle in question is the pre-facelift W213 model, it will be equipped with the NTG5*1 system. Additionally, if the vehicle is equipped with the Garmin Map Pilot navigation feature, it will be using the Audio20 system, which is accessible via an SD-Card. The entertainment device in question is confirmed to be the Audio20 NTG5*1.
KissezFun
After doing a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) check, it seems that the android auto feature is not included as an available option. Therefore, in order to use android auto functionality, one would need to either install an aftermarket box or upgrade the whole system. I need to contemplate the extent to which I really need it, I believe.
KissezFun
It is likely that the audio system in question is the audio 20, since the user has just upgraded the satellite navigation system using an SD card purchased at a reasonable price from the online marketplace, eBay. The task had not been completed since its inception, making it very beneficial to have it now updated. The price of the item was £60, which might be considered a favourable deal. br1anuk
The previous iteration of the E-Class Coupe, released in 2014, was designated as the C207 model and was built around the C-Class W204 platform. This particular model would have been equipped with the COMAND Online NTG4.5 (Generation 3) system.
Rashman4u
A transition occurred from the Audio-20 NTG5*2 system, which lacks compatibility for CarPlay and Android Auto (AA), to the Audio-20 NTG5.5 system, resulting in a facelift. If an individual has a bigger navigation display, it may be inferred that they are using the NTG5.5 system. The NTG5.5 system has the capability to provide native support for CarPlay and Android Auto. To inquire more about this feature, please send a message to comand online via their website (www.comandonline.co.uk) using the provided contact form. br1anuk
Based on the information provided, it can be inferred that the original poster's vehicle is a W213 model from 2017, which is likely to be equipped with the NTG5*1 system. Could you please provide assistance in activating or retrofitting AA or CarPlay for the Audio20 NTG5*1 system?
