Paqngo
HI everyone. The rear windscreen wiper of my 2010 E91 318i ceased functioning at an undetermined time over the last several weeks. The device was functioning well throughout its previous use. The first examination was inspecting the fuse. All available online sources consistently indicate that the fuse responsible for the issue is F48. However, upon inspection, it is seen that no fuse is present at the designated place. I have refrained from engaging in frivolous activities within that context, therefore indicating that it is not the source of concern. Do you have any knowledge on the specific fuse that should be used? Furthermore, the vehicle specification indicates the presence of a "rear wiper and washer" feature, with the washer function being operational. Hence, it is plausible to consider the possibility of a faulty relay as the cause of the issue.
ByteStorm
There is a higher probability that a wire connection between the vehicle's body and hatch has been damaged. The occurrence of this issue is prevalent among a significant number of E91/E61 owners, often manifesting at some point in their ownership. An alternative scenario involves the potential occurrence of the spring plunger being immobilized inside...
ByteStorm
The topic of discussion pertains to fuses. The value of F1 is 10 amperes. https://fuse-box.info/bmw/bmw-3-series-e90-e91-e92-e93-2005-2013-fuses-and-relay
IrvesBMW
Alternatively, the spindle may be immobilized at the point where it traverses the glass handle.
TechWhiz
Greetings everyone, I will review the matter tomorrow.
TechWhiz
In addition to the 20-amp rating of my fuse, it is confirmed that the fuse is in proper working condition.
Paqngo
May I inquire as to the geographical location of this particular place? At first, I had the belief that the bottom of the boot included the desired component. However, upon closer examination, I saw that my boot alone has a latch mechanism without a plunger. Consequently, it is plausible that my search is not directed towards the appropriate location.
Paqngo
I am astonished to have discovered that the glass has the capability to elevate in such a manner, since I was previously unaware of its functionality. However, this was not the primary concern.
Paqngo
This marks the conclusion of the matter. I performed hand oscillatory movements on the object many times, resulting in its partial restoration of mobility, but with intermittent instances of obstruction. What is the most effective method for resolving a seized mechanism?
ByteStorm
I have not personally completed the task at hand, but I suggest doing a search on the video-sharing platform, YouTube.
IrvesBMW
To disassemble the arm, it is necessary to remove it first. Once the arm is off, one will find a circlip that secures the spindle inside the housing. Remove the aforementioned item and proceed to apply a penetrating fluid inside the designated enclosure. In order to get optimal results, it is preferable to liberate the spindle. However, it is desirable to extract the spindle from the opposing side for the purpose of thorough cleaning and lubrication. Paqngo
After extensively reviewing YouTube videos, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the appropriate course of action. I also placed an order for o-rings. One aspect that remains uncertain is the movement of the wiper arm when the glass is raised. While there exists a certain degree of resistance, it is neither prevalent or dominant in any significant manner. Nevertheless, it seems that the issue is with the circular component that accommodates the plunger rod. During a certain period, I successfully manipulated the whole assembly manually, with relative ease. However, I soon encountered increased resistance, ultimately resulting in a jam occurring consistently at the same location. On a few occasions, I successfully operated the wiper in its intended manner using the motor. However, in each instance, once it reached a certain position, it became stuck. Do you have any views or opinions on the matter? I want to thoroughly dismantle the spindle, contingent upon favorable weather conditions, over the next weekend. However, I am somewhat inclined to believe that the circular component may be the source of the issue. I am uncertain about the specific terminology associated with the mentioned component, which hinders my ability to conduct an effective search. IrvesBMW
The circular component mentioned is an integral element of the wiper motor. In the event that there is resistance in the spindle, it will result in the motor being deactivated due to an excessive flow of electricity. In order to do a motor test, one should use a screwdriver to activate the latch and thereafter engage the rear wiper switch. It is vital to verify that the motor disk is rotating as expected. It is important to remember to activate the glass button once more before to its deactivation.
Paqngo
The provided explanation is coherent. I considered doing the test as per your suggestion; however, precipitation had started and I was hesitant to take the chance of being unable to close the glass. Yesterday evening, the windshield wiper became immobilized at the position of complete rotation and remained still. Earlier today, I applied a quick and gentle force on the stalk, causing it to effortlessly return to its original resting position. The subject exhibited a persistent lack of response subsequent to the aforementioned incident. I want to apply a fresh layer of oil on it over the next weekend, if everything goes as planned. Expressing gratitude for the assistance provided is very appreciated.
IrvesBMW
Yesterday, I attempted to do maintenance on our equipment. However, I encountered a challenge as the spindle was firmly stuck owing to significant corrosion. Consequently, I made the decision to purchase a pre-owned bracket/spindle combination in excellent condition for a total cost of £12. The act of cleaning and greasing the final E91 was deemed worthwhile, since it did not encounter any issues.
Paqngo
The efficacy of the penetrating oil has resulted in the restoration of complete mobility. The process of removing one's clothing will really be performed, as it is evident that the current state of the clothing is not entirely satisfactory in terms of its texture and appearance. I express my gratitude for the assistance provided.
ByteStorm
I want to schedule this task as a kind of "preventative" maintenance, since it falls under the category of E91 tasks that I have not yet been compelled to do.
