Service schedule for Mercedes E400d convertible

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I seek guidance concerning the service plan for my recently acquired 2019 E400d convertible, which has 29,000 miles. As a newcomer to Mercedes, I have encountered numerous discussions regarding service plans and am contemplating their value. Previously, I owned a BMW and consistently utilised independent garages due to exorbitant dealership prices. My vehicle has undergone three services by Mercedes, with the most recent occurring a year ago, and I have only driven 1,000 miles since. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Obtain a quotation for the upcoming service (or two) from your primary dealer, enquiring about any additional items due and their respective costs.

Supplementary items are required dependent on duration or distance travelled. Numerous lower-priced estimates are less costly because they are incomplete.

After obtaining that information, solicit quotations from several other garages for the additional items to facilitate a cost comparison on an equivalent basis.

Upon receiving your quote for a service care plan, you will ascertain its value.

Numerous members have discovered that utilising a dealer for servicing under a service plan, while concurrently fostering a relationship with a reliable independent specialist for maintenance or repair tasks not included in the service plan, is the most effective approach.

2. Additionally, be aware that the service plan will exclusively encompass service items that are due next, excluding any outstanding service items that were previously overlooked or omitted. It is advisable to request a comprehensive printout of the service history from your local Mercedes-Benz dealer.

3. Finally, contemporary Diesel engines are outfitted with intricate emissions technologies, referred to as SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction). The vulnerabilities include the DPF, NOx sensors, and the AdBlue injection system. I advise obtaining a mechanical breakdown warranty that will encompass these systems. Consequently, you may already possess coverage if you acquired the vehicle from a commercial seller.

Unless there are significant tasks such as a gearbox oil change or a 4MATIC system service, I would personally not concern myself. £400 for an oil and filter change, together with a MOT test, seems somewhat exorbitant, to be honest. A multitude of independent providers will append a service and any performed work to the MB electronic service sheets on your behalf. To maintain service records.
