New automobile? 318i or 318d? Or incinerate my funds?
Geek2232 replied to ianwh4's topic in General Discussions
I would sincerely recommend acquiring a Mk9 Honda Civic 1.8i manual. I own an N43 for five years, fortunate that it only experienced injector problems, which I was able to rectify independently. Prior to initiating the engine, I would offer a prayer that no more injector has commenced leaking. Some experienced misfortune with plastic chain guides fracturing and obstructing oil flow. -

Disregard the N43, as they are financial burdens. The N47 engine receives negative publicity; yet, if it undergoes chain replacement every 100,000 kilometres and frequent oil and filter changes, it can demonstrate considerable reliability. I have had e9x vehicles with over 100,000 miles, and they have performed OK; minor suspension components and brakes needed replacement, which is typical for any vehicle on the road. Regardless of your choice, it will undoubtedly surpass the PSA substandard engine. - Today

I possess a 2007 BMW 320d with 107,000 miles that I need to sell, but it is somewhat distant. The lacquer has deteriorated on the bonnet and roof, however the car has received meticulous care over the past 15 or 16 years. I do not desire much for it. -

I observed that with my Peugeot. Regarding a pleasurable vehicle to cherish for 8-9 months before I depart for university, would you endorse any of these options? I acknowledge that the clutch mechanism and timing chain are susceptible to failure; nevertheless, after a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle over the past 8-9 months, do you believe I will be fine? If not, could you direct me to any other enjoyable vehicles? Thank you! -

A BMW 320d is not a prudent choice within your budget, as it will likely have high mileage and the timing chains are prone to wear, which could consume over half your budget for a replacement. Additionally, various other components are likely to fail, not potentially, but certainly. If you do not possess at least three times the vehicle's cost in savings, it is advisable to refrain from purchasing unless you are exceptionally skilled in automotive repair. Greetings! I am new here and seeking to replace my Peugeot 208 wetbelt with a five-door vehicle. I admire the appearance of the E90 3 Series; but, after consulting my insurance provider, I discovered that any model above the 320i/320d exceeds my financial capacity. I examined Facebook Marketplace, given my limited budget of £2,200. I discovered a BMW 318i with 70,000 miles, as well as a 318d and 320d, both exceeding 150,000 miles. I am enquiring which of the four alternatives (318i, 318d, 320i, 320d) would be optimal. I have heard that the N47 engine is a financial liability; but, because I require a vehicle for less than a year, it should not be excessively problematic. I have not extensively researched the N43, but I have heard that it is somehow inferior to the N47. I am uncertain. I hope the timing chain does not lead to significant problems. What is the anticipated monthly maintenance cost? I am pleased to perform the majority of tasks independently, such as oil changes, brake maintenance, lighting repairs, and body panel replacements. However, without a garage prevents me from undertaking more time-consuming tasks without interference from the UK weather. I am seeking instruction; any assistance would be welcomed. 😁

The issue of the adhesive rear tailboard window has been addressed multiple times prior. The Forum Advanced Search feature (accessible via the three white dots in the Black Header bar at the top of the page) will aid you.

Thank you for your response. Indeed, it is a normal Captiva C100. I continue to encounter difficulties in locating a method to open my tailboard window. Furthermore, I believe the Captiva is an excellent crossover, and I feel secure in it due to its robust structure.
-
The Forum system has classified your vehicle as a Captiva 'Sport'. This, I believe, is attributable to the Forum's attempt to utilise AI in its descriptions. Being an American-based Forum, it predominantly considers American models, such as the Captiva Sport, and fails to recognise the existence of Captivas that are not American Sport variants. It is encouraging to learn that you have successfully completed the repairs, and I hope they will be beneficial in the future.

Acquired it secondhand. Required extensive repairs. Issue with the throttle body.

There are undoubtedly some peculiar individuals present. Install a set of Goodyear Eagles on the vehicle, and its performance will significantly improve.

I could comprehend this if the back tires conformed to the same (proper) specifications, but they do not. One incorrect tyre, indeed, but three?
-
It likely possesses a complete set; nevertheless, it may have sustained an irreparable puncture, prompting the installation of an alternative when the vehicle was sold.
-
The same brand, TRIANGLE, is inexpensive and performs poorly in wet conditions. Various dimensions and load capacities. Three tires are 235/35ZR19 91Y, while the other is 245/35ZR19 93Y (the exact specification), resulting in differing types on the front.
-
Are we discussing tyre size or brand?
-
The wheels conform to the normal specifications for the SLine model. I am perplexed as to why somebody would replace three of the four tires with non-standard options, resulting in two distinct tires on the front (driving) axle.
-
Are the wheels on the automobile aftermarket, as many individuals transition from regular alloys, resulting in varying tyre sizes? What is currently installed on the wheels?
-
I possess a 66-plate Sportster equipped with 19-inch low-profile tires. I purchased it last year, and it is now time to replace the two front tires. I have examined the codes, and they differ in width and load capacity. Could someone please provide the appropriate tyre specifications? I lack an owner's manual.

Greetings, everyone. Thank you for the responses. I received one email back indicating that my model is Enavevo. To upgrade to ID6, including VIN matching and coding, the cost will be £1,095. -

Thanks for the advise guys - I have searched, and the only model numbers I can locate are in the attached photograph. Looking around it says that an obsolete software version, presumably belongs to NBT EVO system?? A new display will presumably require programming, correct? Should I also update the obsolete software, in your opinion? It is uncertain whether it is relevant, but the radio does not include a CD/DVD player. -

Which version of iDrive do you possess? I have a 2019 vintage form F36 and that has touch screen on Idrive 6. It is equipped with satellite navigation; nevertheless, I find it unsatisfactory, so I affix my Samsung mobile to the air vent and utilise Google Maps. I did get Carplay unlocked...but only my wife has Iphone so no good for me. The Android mirror is also subpar. -

I have Bluetooth connection which works ok, only dont have the sat nav and dab, which I would like to upgrade but unsure as to which Idrive I have currently.. I have verified the VIN on several websites, which indicate that the DAB and satellite navigation are standard features; however, I find myself perplexed and suspect that the dealership may have misled me. The dealership stated that the vehicle did not possess satellite navigation and was in poor condition upon receipt as a trade-in.
