Information on the M54 engine

Hello everyone, I am new to BMWs and am in the process of purchasing a 2004 X5 3.0i equipped with the M54 engine. What are people's opinions on this engine? Is it reliable or problematic? Any assistance or advise would be much appreciated. 👍

These engines are regarded as very durable compared to contemporary power plants, provided they have regular oil changes and maintain an efficient cooling system; they may achieve extraordinary mileage.

Additionally, I assume you are unaware whether the larger discs and callipers from the 4.8 are directly compatible.

Carriers may be necessary.
I have always regarded the stock configuration of my 3.0d e53 as satisfactory.

With proper maintenance, oil consumption may be negligible; otherwise, these engines tend to use oil excessively.

All other components, such as the CCV, coolant, Vanos, and oil pan gasket, are not particularly problematic to replace.
