BenTrevor
My E91 330d has been stationary for a month, using trickle charging. I want to rotate the engine without initiating combustion to establish oil pressure. What is the optimal method to do this without jeopardising the catalyst and causing significant damage? In the past, it was simple, but contemporary matters are more complex. Is there a fuse that I can remove? Someone will possess knowledge. CheresX
A month is inconsequential; it is OK to proceed as usual without any preventive measures against ignition.
Rojoires
My 3L diesel E53 often remains stationary for six weeks and starts normally. No rattles or other irregularities; it starts as it usually does.
WordSmith
When you click the start button without your foot on the clutch, does it not initiate the pre-start process?
CheresX
It just activates the glow plugs; it does not circulate oil or gasoline, since cranking is required for that function.
WordSmith
I had Fords many years ago and primed the gasoline filter by turning the ignition to a certain position. I first believed that pressing the start button would enough. Additionally, I would fill the fuel filter manually, since the under-bonnet filters were much more accessible. jennycarlotta
To facilitate cranking without initiating the start, it is likely most effective to detach the cam sensor connector. On the M57, this was rather simple since it is situated at the front upper section of the engine. On the N57, it is located at the upper back, but may be readily accessed after removing the engine cover.
BenTrevor
Will this also deactivate refuelling? Will everything revert to its original state upon reconnection?
jennycarlotta
Affirmative and affirmative.
