ByteStorm
I purchased a TOYOTA CH-R GR in October 2021, and in August 2026, I noticed that the front LED daytime running lights on the passenger side are malfunctioning. I reached out to the dealership from which I purchased my vehicle, and they conveyed via telephone that I must replace the entire headlight, amounting to 1,600 €. I find it intolerable for a corporation such as TOYOTA and for a vehicle model that I have operated for roughly 63,000 km to experience LED failures (unless it was a flawed production run). LEDs, as we are all aware, do not simply cease functioning abruptly. I possess acquaintances who own the same model from a prior year than 2021, with higher mileage, and have not encountered such an issue. Do you possess any details regarding the subject? Paqngo
The LEDs themselves may not be defective; frequently, it is the power supply components that malfunction. However, since they are integrated into a single unit, the dealer will prefer to replace the entire assembly. There exist specialised repair or refurbishment facilities that may offer significantly lower prices; however, you will probably need to dismount the headlamp, dispatch it to them, and await its return for several days before reinstalling it... best of luck. ianwh4
Contemporary vehicles equipped with Xenon, LED, and Matrix headlights have advanced considerably from the era of basic Halogen bulbs, particularly with the integration of Daytime Running Lights mandated by EU safety regulations. They are typically encapsulated assemblies provided as a singular unit, and if one malfunctions, it is usually replaced with a new unit from a dealer. Certain enterprises or individuals may possess the capability to disassemble the unit and execute repairs at a cost considerably lower than that of replacement; however, the quality and compatibility of the lighting may differ from the original. Producers offer a three-year guarantee on new vehicles, frequently excluding lighting from claims beyond this timeframe. You may find it more advantageous to procure a used component from a dismantled vehicle and have it installed at your neighbourhood garage instead of incurring the costs associated with a primary dealer; however, there is still no assurance that the salvaged part will not experience the same malfunction in the future.
