MrGreedy
I had my C63s in for maintenance at the start of October. Identified a malfunctioning front shock absorber on the passenger side of the vehicle. I placed an order for a component and patiently waited for 10 weeks until it was delivered and installed in the middle of December. After a period of 6 months, I visited the MOT centre on 7/6/24 for an inspection. Unfortunately, the front shock spring that was installed was incorrectly positioned, resulting in a major defect and causing the vehicle to fail the inspection. They filed a complaint, resulting in them not billing me for the services rendered or the MOT. Apologies were spoken abundantly and a commitment was made to ensure that the same mistake would not be repeated. I understand that you may suggest using an independent service provider, but I specifically need a comprehensive record of maintenance from an authorised dealer. I have had the automobile since it was brand new and have consistently used their services for the last six years. Additionally, I have a service contract in place. I am considering requesting a refund of the £191.64 that I paid for the wrong fitting of the item. This is because the service provider failed to exercise their Duty of Care, and the payment was made using a credit card. bvlenci
Therefore, the dealer that improperly installed the spring resolved the problem free of charge, which is the minimum they should do. Additionally, they did not charge for the MOT. You have a strong case to demand a return due to their admission of a significant mistake, as supported by the MOT failure. Alternatively, you might request a credit note for any future services you may want from them.
Motoman
I fail to comprehend the justification for granting you a refund. Despite their first mistake, they rectified it without any further cost, as they should have. Furthermore, they waived the MOT price, ensuring that you were not put at a disadvantage, and provided compensation for the inconvenience. alpaco45
A primary MB workshop erroneously installed an AMG coil spring in an inverted position. The mind is overwhelmed with astonishment. If the spring is authentic AMG, it will have the AMG logo, the component number, and maybe the brand 'Eibach' (as mine do). Puppets.
DSM10000
I believe that repairs are not recorded in the Digital Service Book (DSB) in any case. That is to say, just maintenance is provided. If all the services are performed exclusively at the dealership, the location of repairs does not affect the service history. Indeed, every MB Service History printout I have seen only includes Services A and B, without any further information.
ML350_Colin
According to my understanding, springs should be installed with the component number facing upwards, allowing it to be easily seen when attached to the strut. Is it not difficult?
spiezen
I empathise with your suffering. If you want a vehicle with an impeccable and untarnished MOT history, this automobile is an excellent choice. It is quite frustrating, but I would personally suggest that you just continue with your life. Even if you get the money, they will not be concerned about their mistake. MrGreedy
The spring was installed properly but not positioned appropriately. The MOT tester characterised it as being reversed. I only wanted a pristine record of its history, and it is utterly disappointing to be deceived by the vendor. I have just experienced a loss of trust in them. Thank you everybody for your perspectives and support. I appreciate it. 👍❤️
Alex1978
A clean MOT history will not have an impact on the selling price, save for those who are easily deceived. However, I can get your need for it to be unambiguous.
bvlenci
Has this been the first error they have committed with any of your automobiles? If that is the case, disregard it.
alpaco45
Correctly aligning the spring, but not fully securing it, would typically be a simple resolution in most cases. It is unfortunate that we lack visual documentation of the spring/strut. It should be noted that MOT test workers may not necessarily be highly competent technicians.
