IrvesBMW
I failed the MOT on my BMW lately and have decided to attempt fixing the problem myself. The problem I encountered is that the brake hoses on my old car (2005) seem to be rusted and stuck in the calliper. I attempted to remove them using a 14mm wrench and WD-40, but was unsuccessful. In the photos, you can see that I had to cut one hose to gain better access. I have two new hoses to replace them. Any advice on how to successfully remove the rusted hose? WiseSage
I had a similar issue and resolved it by use a flame torch, a tool often used for soldering pipes.
Paqngo
Abundant heat as said earlier. The heated wrench.
Blu_Ray_UK2007
AC90 is superior than WD40 for loosening nuts and bolts. Continue to douse it and then let it soak overnight.
Paqngo
I am not familiar with AC90, however I recently purchased a can for £8 from Amazon. Thank you for the advice, Blu_Ray_UK2007 Edited February 21, 2024 by Paqngo
Blu_Ray_UK2007
I have not needed to use heat since I began using it years ago, even when I assumed I would have to. Continue dowsing and then depart for as extended a period as feasible.
