Caliper Paintings

I am uncertain whether this is the appropriate forum for my inquiry. I am in possession of a 2007 5 series automobile, which I find to be aesthetically pleasing. However, I am perplexed by the decision to paint the calipers in a red hue, since it does not align with my personal preferences. The objects in question do not possess characteristics often associated with industrial production, and their appearance is subjectively unattractive.

What is the most effective approach to address this issue? Is it sufficient to apply a layer of paint to cover the existing marks, or is it necessary to erase the marks, sand the surface, and then apply a fresh coat of paint?

If feasible, it would be preferable to explore other options that are more cost-effective. However, it should be noted that all four calipers exhibit similar characteristics.

The recommended course of action would include thoroughly cleaning the object in question, using wire wool for a gentle polishing, followed by the application of a coat of high temperature paint in a color of one's preference.
I prefer using brush painting techniques over spray painting methods due to the tendency of spray painting to disperse in various directions when applied to a car's surface.

I completed the task without removing the wheels. I cleaned the caliper using a brush and brake cleaner, followed by sanding and another round of cleaning. I then applied two coats of caliper paint using a 1cm wide artist's brush. The process was relatively quick and straightforward, although the ease may vary depending on the design of the wheel spokes. It is advisable to have white spirit and a cloth nearby in case any paint comes into contact with the spokes. The calipers shown in the picture were nearly three years old, and it is only necessary to paint the visible areas. The hue in question had a gunmetal gloss grey appearance, reminiscent of the shade often referred to as "nardo."

As previously said, it is possible to enhance the longevity of the aforementioned items by applying a coat of high temperature clear lacquer, provided that one exercises caution. In the absence of strong winds, it is plausible to avoid overspray on surrounding objects. By diligently using appropriate masking techniques, one may mitigate potential risks and ensure a successful outcome, although with the understanding that patience is required.

I was just about to apply a coat of red paint on my calipers, but, it seems that this particular aesthetic choice has fallen out of favor in contemporary times.

The color of my wheels is mostly grey, since any other color such as blue, yellow, or pink will create a visual discordance with the red bodywork.
Where may one get M stickers?

I express my gratitude for the responses received and intend to undertake the suggested actions during the next week.

I am aware that red calipers are popular among individuals, but, they do not align with my own preferences. Although I expressed my own opinion by using the terms "awful" and "hideous," it is important to acknowledge that aesthetic preferences vary across individuals. I have engaged in unconventional behaviors with my automobiles at instances characterized by both impulsive and rational states of mind.

The color gray is a suitable choice when one has gray-colored wheels.I made a jest in my reference to the color pink, nevertheless, it is really a valid hue.

Copper and gold are viable color options for a vehicle; nevertheless, they may not be suitable choices for a red automobile.

In my previous experiences, I have observed that spraying calipers with an appropriate spray does not provide long-lasting results compared to painting. Additionally, painting allows for easy touch-ups in the event of minor damage, such as a chip caused by a stone impact. If the spokes of my wheels were tightly packed, I would have removed them before painting the calipers. However, this was not necessary with the 373m wheels, which made the process relatively simple. The calipers on my M4, which came with factory blue color, still appear aesthetically pleasing. However, it is possible that the stickers on the calipers may require refurbishment in a couple of years.

Thank you for your response.
I have just acquired new discs that need to be installed, since it would otherwise be a straightforward task to paint them by maneuvering between the spokes of my 256 wheels.
The M stickers serve to demarcate the grey caliper paint. It is important to note that the aforementioned M vehicle adornments represent the only embellishments I own, since I refrain from attempting to disguise inferior quality by means of superficial modifications, such as exchanging the grills.

Indeed, the application of a tastefully understated hue to the calipers would enhance their visual prominence. It is worth noting that my F31 330d xDrive has the presence of bigger calipers in a striking blue shade, complemented by the inclusion of M decals. Similarly, my M4 possesses this distinguishing feature, so adhering to the permissible standards.
